Steve here... Been trolling the forum for a while. Bought a NIB Savage 4.6 a few weeks back. It's my third nitro in 40ish years..

After First break in... The 4.6 ran for milliseconds and died... I had to pull the motor and lock tight and re tighten the set screws that hold the Nitro start hex on the starting shaft.
Part way thru my first quart of Nitro, I smoked the plastic 47t drive gear off the spur.. Can't even believe my LHS had one in stock:)....
This afternoon... sneaking up on a 3/4 gallon of 20% thru the motor.. after tearing up the back yard for few weeks, the Steering servo starts acting up...I Quickly Ordered an HPI SF-50 on ebay... No idea if it the one to buy or not..

That being said,
The truck does nothing but please...:)for $460 assembly line run of the mill rc truck. It just rocks
I just want to thank the members on this forum for all the help I have found in numerous posts and threads.

Advice on the servo.. dont buy the hpi servos get a savox, or hitec.. something along those lines. Even cheap ebay high torque servos are better than the hpi ones.

A few necessary hop ups for when you break parts. RPM arms, Aluminum Rear hubs (integy has a good set.. about the only thing I would buy from them.) New servos. Many people say dont get the metal spur gears, but honestly I like em much better than the plastic, just make sure you get a hardened CB too. Just make sure your mesh is right, and that your slipper is set right. As with the metal gears its much easier to wreck your tranny or diffs from locking the slipper. And if the spur/cb are getting hot back your mesh off a tad.

After those I would look into a fuel tank mod.. either center tank, or hellfire tank in stock mounting position. And I always try to replace dogbones with cvds when possible. Follow these, and it makes the truck almost bulletproof IMO
