Hi everybody!! got another problem..yes again!!! When i press on the brakes, it plays with the throttle and it cuts the engine off and it seriously pissing me off !!! Plus the settings all scewed up (needles) I'm really discourage cuz every time i play with the damn truck something goes wrong. If this keeps up I'm gonna sell it !!!

I have the same problem. For starters your idle screw is set to low give it about 1/4 - 1/2 a turn, you might want to looking into the OFNA or Traxxas linkage mod.

Counter clockwise...right ??
Either one of those linkage would be better ??

clockwise.

AH !!! See what i mean when i said PISSING me off...Oh well, sucks to be me ! Thanks alot and it seems like i gotta do some more :read: !!! bye

Does the linkage from traxxas fit on it and is it really better...anybody:help: !

The idle screw is the one right to the left of the high speed needle...Oh at the same time...is it normal that the high speed needle is out(from flush) at least 1 mm ??? I'm just a damn:n00bie:

The general rule for tuning nitro RCs is when in doubt set to factory settings. it sounds like you may have the throttle adjustment in your radio to adjust the idle.. I did it once on my revo not thinking about it and had the same problems.

Ya i guess I'm better off restarting from factory settings :surrender instead of giving myself a headache by messing around with the needles...THANKS

Hiya boutch,

I'm new here but have recently purchased a Savage X and seem to be having the same prob. When I get time to fix it (tomorrow evening) I will take the entire air filter off and using the manual set the idle to the correct setting.

The idea is that when the break is engaged (fully) there is still meant to be an opening visible, by removing the air filter you will be able to see this. This is in the manual, not sure which page.

Am I right in thinking your wheels spin when the car is started? Mine do and I've been able to stop them by using the transmitter to reduce the idle speed (big no no but it works so, the above solution should fix both probs - i hope).

If your able to do this before, pls shout up with how it goes:thumbup:

Hi oza x !!! Ya you can turn the idle down on your remote to bring your wheels to stop turning...As for the brakes that shut off the engine...i just start the truck, wait for a bit (let it run maybe 10/15 sec but reving it a bit)and strangely enough my brake does shut off the engine...weird but this hobby is full of surprises...byebye

If your brakes are causing your engine to shut off, you need to up your idle screw adjustment a little. Just enough to keep the engine running when you apply brakes.

yeah heart I know but the prob i have is when i set the controller to base settings and fire it up, the clutch engages and the wheels turn, now i've tried a good 1/2 clock and anti-clockwise, no effect. Now when i turn the throttle on the controller down the wheels stop, perfect... yeah perfect until i hit the break... it just cuts out.

I've checked the space (as detailed above) and everything looks ok, just yet to fire it up since.

Oh yaaaaa !!!:w00t: sweet sweet savage !!

question on this as I am still having this problem. What do you reckon of the fuel filter having an affect on idle times and thus after a 1/2 tank causing the engine to cut out with the slighest amount of break usage? (regardless of idle setting on the car)

I think that you have to set the high speed needle first then set the idle speed after...correct me if I'm wrong but thats what writen in the book at section 2-9(optional tuning) and it worked for me !!!=devil

Yep done all that, now unless I'm meant to set the high speed back to the official start position every time? Currently is been given about a 180-200 degree turn from its original starting position.
