Hey guys.. well I got my t-maxx up and running and I was trying to tune it.. the newest problem I have is... braking...
I can't get it to stop... I think it's a linkage problem that isn't setup right.. I heard mention of it... If I manually pull on the brake linkage while spinning the tire it stops on a dime but not with the radio.... I have the linkage set so it's at full close on the carb and when I pull the gas trigger it opens all the way but when I hit the brake it just barely starts the braking... any thoughts?

Adjust the brake linkage so the transmitter will be able to apply full brakes.

That's what I am attempting to do .. but it just wont go all the way .... If I take the linkage off of the servo the servo turns just fine in either direction but if I put the linkage back on.. It seems to not want to apply the brakes fully... am I expecting too much from the servo... does it lock down on the brakes or just moderately stop them?

If I remember correctly when I had my t-maxx running out of the box and I applied the brakes it would almost do a nose flip.... ???

The servo might be weak, but your linkage set-up (even with a weak servo) should be able to stop the vehicle.

Do you have a picture of your set up that you could post? That might help us point you in a better direction.

what do you run your truck through?? have you ever spilled something on the pad itself?? it kinda looks like it has something soaked up in it. go by you lhs and pick up some nitro cleaner!! another thing to try is (after youvee cleaned it) take off the little metal pads that the disc is squeesed between and use some steel wool or something to ruff them up a little.

i dunno but is a posibilty that it on 70/30 not 50/50. so you get less force on the breaks. maby your horn is of center or your gears are jaming up.

In addition to the above mentioned replace the small piece of tubing over the end of the linkage with fuel line tubing. Fuel line tubing is harder and you will see a marked improvement with the additional force that it will apply to the calipers.

All done.. for now

I got my maxx back from the lhs with it's new upgraded brakes and it ROCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I will take some pics of it when I clean it and hopefully if it doesn't rain a video or two... I want to thank everyone for their help..... I really appreciate it... I love this site... Thanks again and happy bashing!!!!!!!!!!

An alternative mod I did to mine that's along the lines of what StrechM suggested is just to cut the snubber on the brake rod shorter. Move the collar in to take up the slack. Much more positive braking.

Sounds like you're happy. Figured I'd throw that in anyway.
