Before Obama takes all of our guns away I decided to pick up my first handgun ever. I've hand rifles growing up but never a pistol.

It's a Smith & Wesson M&P 40. Got it from a good friend who has shot almost 200 rounds through it. Hoping to go to the range this weekend and get a rounds through it myself. :)

Those are pretty nice guns. Did S&W ever fix the retarded trigger pull on those? I had one several years back and it had a 9-10lbs trigger pull EVERY TIME so putting a lot of rounds on target ended up being a chore. I traded it for a Sig.....heh heh heh.

Those are some nice guns. We use the same one for home defense, and it is fun to shoot as well. Ammo is hella expensive though.

Well my dad has been trying for weeks to find some in stores, but hasn't found any yet. What he's finding online is like a dollar a round I think he said.

Its weird i can't get any in Virginia (where i shoot ) but i can get bricks of it in Maryland. So i load up on it here then shoot it there

From what I've ready the S&W SWVE series have long pulls like you've mentioned, but the M&P models have about half - around 4-5 pounds from what I've been reading.

This is exactly what I bought the gun for. Mainly home protection and a little plinking around here and there.

alpinehyperlite - went to Budsgunshop.com since they are located here in Lexington and they had the exact same gun for $598. I bought this one for $400.

I looked at the same gun last weekend. I had to get out of the house. I havent done much since the surgery. One of the local gun shops had it for $494. I was planning on picking it up when I get my settlement. I'm also pitching the idea of getting a bushmaster AR 15. They have 4 of them there ranging from $950-$1150. I used to have one a few years back and sold it. Wish almost everyday that I didnt. Really fun gun to shoot IMO. Nice score Woodie. Let me know how it shoots after you get the chance.

seems like every time a buy a hand gun its $400

My Glock .40 Model 22 i got was a deal the dude needed money fast, he paid over $600 left the visa slip it in. He shot this gun 20 times

My Smith & Wesson 9mm Model 5904 (Pre-Ban Gun) i got was a great deal two spare clips over 1500 rounds came with it

I just picked up my new Glock 27, .40 for $450. New from store. Not a bad price at all...... i carry it on my ankle as a backup to my sig p220 .45.

Anyone recommend a good light to mount to the gun?

Nice pistol you picked up there Woodie, you should have fun with it, I wish I could get out and shoot my HK USP .40 more often, but ammo is so damn exspencive, I have been thinking about picking up a little .22 pistol for plinking around, much cheaper to go target practice with.
