RC Driving Style
alright so i bought a t-maxx off ebay and when i went to run it it ran alright but wasn't at its full potential. I got the tuning dvd with it and followed it step by step but somewhere along the process i messed something up and now it will start and idle fine but as soon as i press the throttle it just bogs out and stalls. but if i give it a push it drives fine until i slow down a little and then slam the throttle and it just stalls out again. I'm new to nitro rc cars and need some help.

How much have you adjusted the tune from factory settings? Is there a lot of smoke coming out of the pipe when you accelerate (or try to)? Do you have a temp gun? If so, what's the head temp at the glow plug?

I've tried adjusting alot from factory settings and when i try to take off there is usually a medium amount of smoke its not alot and its not none at all
i dont have a temp gun but that is something i plan on getting real soon

How long do you let it sit and idle? Can you quickly blip the throttle or does it die when you do that too? Can you lift it off the ground and very slowly apply throttle just to get tie tires moving at a decent speed? Don't go wide open, just a little to see if you can get it going a bit while in the air.

i can let it sit and idle till it runs out of fuel and if i just flick the throttle enough that it engages the transmission and drivetrain it dies and if i pick it off the ground it will spin the tires
i can actually drive it full out if i give it a push as I'm pushing the throttle but as soon as i slow down to turn and get back on it it dies

Sounds like it's either really rich or your clutch is hanging up as it's engaging. Do you get quite a bit of smoke out of the pipe if you nudge it to get it going?

it was the clutch spring
thanks for the help
got one ordered so hopefully it will be up and running soon =)
