Is there a polish that can be use on lexan bodies to remove scratches?

Thank You

Scott

I dont know of ANY that will work effectively. Almost all rubbing compund and polishes have silica (sand) in them. No matter how mild the abrasive, I would assume it will just farther scratch the surface.

If you have a shop in your area that deals in plexiglass, I would call and ask what they would use.

As far as why a polish works on automotive paint is because it will sand down the clear coat and even it out. But it doesn't stop there, you need to coat it with wax and a good sealing glaze otherwise you will see swirl or stroke marks.

When used on a lexan body, it won't work too well. Remember, it will cut the body with the silica and there is no paint on that body to buff in order to hide the marks.

My suggestion is to just leave it as is, beat the body to death and buy/paint a new one when necessary. It's all part of the hobby. Bash, break, fix ... it's a vicious cycle!:marshall:

Try plastic polish. Novus Inc. makes some for fine scratches. They probably make it for heavier scratches too, because the bottle that I have has is number 2 so there is probably a number 1 also. Their phone number is (800) 548-6872, (for local dealers) don't know if they have a web site I haven't tried looking them up.
