Thought I would start an introduction to my favourite RC car!

It is modified somewhat but nothing ridiculous (IMO) just items that either provide some value or look nice :D

Here it is

and a little sneak peak under the hood

Far more to come as it needs a bit of a clean-up and borderline rebuild but for now there is my pride and joy!

Looks good, dirty, but hey, that's what they're for!
Tell me about the bumper supports, are they printed or what? I need new ones for mine, don't really want to buy the TRX bits since they're kinda weak. Nice rig brother!😎👍

I love the white and green. Those were my high school colors 😉

can't go wrong with the simple look and Green is my favourite colour so I am easily pleased.

The only thing I am not keen on actually is the indestructible white proline shell, it does a solid job but I am just not totally sold on it.

Indeed they are printed, I got them off eBay I will have a look and see if I can find them again.

I will confirm that they are very robust and durable, they have plenty of "give" which is brilliant for what they do. Watch how I will break them next time out :D

Awesome rig, my Xmaxx is my favorite basher also.
It's "up there" on the list for me too. I call mine the Hooligan. Down at the moment, blew the rear input gear. Lost a few teeth. It'll be 3 years old this Xmas, so ,no complaints. It's been a blast to own!!

Thanks! I found some, look's like the ones you have may be from UK?
These are the ones I found in US.

Yep,

Mine will be from UK. The only difference I see other than colour is mine are rounded edges but that shouldn't matter at all as long as they are flexible and robust for $16 its worth a shot.

Doubles as a "Power Wheels" ride-on toy?! Awesome!!:p
I hacked up my chassis and installed a Spektrum S905 into my X-Mike.. wifey gifted the S905 to me for Xmas last year, so, I HAD to use it somewhere. Didn't have the heart to tell her it was an oddball (1/6) servo that I hadn't a use for.. LOL. Feeding it 8.4v from a Firma 160, it is an improvement over the 2085, but then, the 2085 isn't saying much.. funny, the 2085 went 2 years and was still working fine when I took it out!
I also have a v1 K8S that is still running an S905. It works, bout all I can say for it.. have a PowerHD on standby. I would have already swapped it in if I had the adapter for the 1/5 servo.

As gifts go its a good gift to get kudos to wifey!!

I have installed the servo today slotted straight in with no drama which is great, we are taking the trucks out tomorrow so lets see how it all goes. The weather is starting to turn in the UK so before we know it those mornings bashing and smashing will become reduced.

Best make the most of it

A long overdue but brief update -

Went for a blast at Beckenham Place Park, something close and lots of space.

Rain and weather had turned most areas into mud bogging which was great fun to be fair and we had a blast for around 35mins

The last pic before disaster

5 mins after this all hell broke loose...

full throttle coming towards me and it just cut out the nose dipped and dug in and an incredible gymnastic routine was observed

in short after a quick look

  • Cracked bulkhead
  • Suspected front diff or ring and pinion
  • Steering link
  • Servo arm
More upsetting is the fact the ESC seems to have exploded

Max 6, the switch no longer works and it cuts out randomly (tried different batteries)

OUCH!

Looking at this now as a replacement

Will upload pics of all the damage as I find it 😄

New ring and pinion setup was around £60/70 instead its a £15 shaft. 🙂

Its due a rebuild and clean up so ill take this chance to do it and see what else needs a bit of TLC. The mud bogging and swimming I have done with it has rusted bearings but on the whole with the abuse it gets... Can't complain.

It is an incredible machine.

The Xmaxx is my favorite basher too. That center drive shaft is a weak point for sure. There are better replacement options than factory. M2C and others make split dog bone center shafts and a center support. I've yet to have a repeat issue after upgrading.

There's also bulkhead braces you can add that help resist breaking bulkheads so easy. Cheap and easy upgrade.

As far as the esc, have you tried eliminating the switch?

I have the 3d printed centre insert but agree it may be time to swap that out if it occurs again.

I did I cut the switch off and joined the wires, at first I thought success but then it cut out again. I have just put in a large order of parts so hopefully tomorrow they arrive and I can get to work!

Nope dead as well! :D

I think its a write off which is okay given everything.

The tumble you described above is caused by a motor locking up.. Seen it many times. The pretzlel-fied driveshaft absolutely verifies that as well… You didn’t mention it though, so figured I’d ask..
