you kids the permatex iam talking about was made LONG before the RTV. its the original permatex. it is NOT RTV. i started using it in 1965, its NEVER failed me, on street cars/trucks. RTV has to much silicone to suit me, it does nothing but slip and slide. get the stuff i called out and take a good look at it. i wish i knew as much as you kids think you know.

Is the attitude really necessary? Have you ever tried the Ultra Copper? From your posts I seriously doubt you have. Maybe the stuff you were using in 1965 was good or even is still good, but technology and products advance and improve over time. I have been using ultra copper, not only in rc but 1:1 automotive for many years, and it does not "slip and slide" it is also intended for areas with fuel contact, where as the red and blue silicone is not. And oh yeah, btw, I am NOT a kid, I am a 45 year old adult with quite a few years experience under my belt.

Yea. love it!!!! Every time I try to tell them something that we've been doing or using for years, I get a big talking to about how they know everything and I know nothing. hahahahahahaha..............whatever. Back when I was young I found out that when I ran my mouth about something it usually turned out that I didn't know as much as I thought I did.

I used the copper RTV on my old 1980 Camaro. Loved the stuff and use it today on my 1:1 and on my nitros when I ran nitro.

I used it on my 74 Camaro, 73 amx, and several Jeeps, as well as many rc engines, it works great. But hey, you just can't tell some guys who know more than everyone else, simply because they use something else and think anyone younger than them couldnt possibly have a clue about a product if its not what they used 45 years ago, lol. :hehe:

Yes Sir, Ultra Copper is good stuff. Works great on these little motors. Works great with assembling my Harley motor too! And I too have been using some kind of Permatex for about uuuhhhhh.......... 41 yrs. (I'm "almost" 57!) Started when I was 16.

Now that I think about it I've been using the Permatex RTV in various forms sine the '70s. I remember having to fix leaking valve covers on my old '62 Impala. My dad showed me what to do and helped me do it. He bought the Permatex and swore by it.
