BlueRidge thinks my 13/49 is alot of torque. I was running the 13/52......for less than 1 tank. It woudl only go about 20mph.....on two wheels!!!

Gotcha! but I don't have dogbones. I have MIP CVD's all around. Aren't these strong enough to hold it? If not I wasted my money. I just kept the old dogbone shafts so when my buddy breaks his I have spares so he doesn't have to quit runnin' for the day.

You will save your driveline as long as you don't go WOT or full brake when landing. You will tear up yor drivetrain eventually if you do these without the locker, having the locker only makes the stress worse. As for using CVDs I haven't gone that route so no idea if they will hold up. My guess is probably as good as dogbones.

Ok jumping with a locked diff should fo like this right

---------------------------------1/2(highest point)-----------------------------------------full (climaxing)---------------------1/2(falling)-------------------------full(launch)------------------------------------(land) 1/2-------
--------------------------------------(Drive off) full-----------------------

It wont let me illustarte it.

So if you start off at full throtle you should let off to around 1/2 while in the air?

don't really understand the first three lines but yes, you can go WOT when you launch, while airborne you can stay WOT if you feel like flippin, or give some gas or brake to level yourself, and when you land 1/2 throttle or less and you will be fine. No full brakes when you land.

Alright cool gotch ya.
The forum messed up my illustration to the point where not even i get it. With the diff locker do you gain much performance in dirt?

Having the diff locker allows you to have max traction on dirt at the rear at all times. When you turn the rear will want to swing around which you correct with countersteering and throttle. The truck will seem to carry more speed through the corner. I'm no racer so I don't know if this is any good for a track. But for bashing in the dirt it has made the truck more fun to drive which is all I really care about.

I kind of got the same effect running 50K in the rear and 10K in the front.

I got 5 gallons through my diffs with an Omega 21 Comp (2.4hp) and 14/52 gearing before they grenaded on me. When they did die, it was bacause the previous owner used course threaded screws and they all backed out of the diff cups. The gears inside the cups were all still like new, but the cups had notches from the cross shafts and the wring/pinion gears were shot.

I replaced the cups, ring/pinions 2 gallons ago with 7K in the front and 10K in the rear. I didn't like how it drove with the light oil. So I went 10K in the front and 50K in the rear. Also changed out all the bearings as they were getting sloppy and throwing off my gear mesh, but all gears still look like new.

I don't understand why so many people have problems with the diffs in the Savage. I've had my Savage since it's release and haven't blown one out yet! I upgraded to the 4 spider mod when I installed the 8port just in case but never had a problem. Now I'm running the 24.7 Pro and have about 2 gallons through it (+8 gal. W/8port)and I'm still not having any problems with my diffs. On my last teardown of the truck I did notice that the screws had backed out and my fluid was all gone but the gears and housings are all fine!. I'm not easy on my truck either! I make regular trips to the BMX tracks and really punish the truck. If I remember right I'm actually still using 2 of the original spider gears in each diff.

You may be an exception Rex. I know when I first got my Savage I would bust a diff everytime I ran it. My current set is going good with over 2 gallons, maybe I don't drive it as hard anymore. Maybe I just learned to let off the throttle on landings and don't try to climb 12 inch walls as much lol.

Then again Diesel, me and you are the only two running Collari's right now. Talk about punishment on those gear!!!

I don't think we're the only two, Ratzo, maxxfx, Nevaren, PYRO, hulk, Bruce @RushRC and a few others I can't remember right now also have one.

Maxx's is in a LST(fully custom I might add), Hulk's is a FULL CUSTOM Home built with solid steel everything and a little aluminum in the parts that don't break. OH BTW, maxxFX is breaking all kinds of stuff now that the engine is running. snapped a cvd last night, not even tuned out yet.

I've heard of folks using that diff in their Savages with some shimming. Looks really nice!!
