I'm changing my Super Tigre's bearings, and I thought of doing some paint work on the block until the bearings arrive. So my question is, what type of metal is the block made of? I was thinking of chrome-plating it, but I need to know exactly what's it made of to know if (and how) it'll work.

Cast aluminum usually. Also, the entire engine is a heat sink, so whatever you coat the engine with should dissipate heat.
