I can't let all you guys have the fun flying around the house.

I have a CX2 on the way. After much research, it seemed the best choice for a first time flyer. Brown santa should deliver it in about a week.

Congrats on the Heli Rob! I just ordered parts to put mine back together...it's only been broken for a couple of months now.

I also got a set of those training skids with the orange balls on the end. If I fly like I drive, I am going to need them.

Outta be fun.....post some pics and vids of you crashing it into the TV and such.

;)

Did you get it yet? It's been raining in my neck of the woods so I whipped mine out for a couple packs. You are going to have a blast with it.

It will be here on Monday.

Training wheels showed-up yesterday.

I have a lot of hours on my CP Pro. It takes a lot of patients and time just to master hovering. I am just about ready to try an invert. I picked up some carbon fiber blades the other day so we will see just how good I am. By the way just general flying I still use the training wheels.

BackTalk just so you know - if you're still learning, stick with the woodies. Reason being when you crash or land hard, the blades flex down while still spinning and hit the tail boom. Carbon fiber or plasti-blades will chop that puppy right off. Balsa blades will just break and not damage the boom. My CF blades are still on the shelf after almsot a year.

I have done a vert with my Heli Max. I guess I should have mentioned that. It's just time to give mt CP Pro a shot . The woodies are fine however the CF blades and tail rotor are more percise for the tricks.

Rob if you haven't done so already, I'd pick up a couple extra battery packs for the CX2. It usually takes me a half pack to get the heli trimmed and comfortable with the sticks.

A little game I was playing this weekend involved placing 8" dinner plates around the house. I would take off and attempt to land on each plate, all the while trying to avoid the furniture, walls, ceiling fans, wife, etc. The plates were at different heights. Some were on the floor, the ottoman, or the dining table. Depending on the surrounding furniture/walls the prop wash will affect the way the heli handles, which made it both challenging and fun.

Not real up to date on the CX2. What battery pack does it take. I almost get 15 min. on the CP Pro pack with just general flying. Also threw in a picture of what a mess my bench is. I get too many projects going at one time.

The stock battery is a 7.4v 800mah lipo. Initially I was getting about 8 minutes per pack but as the packs are getting more cycles, the run time has increased to about 10-11 minutes per pack. I usually fly for 5 minutes, then take her down for a few minutes to let the motors cool, and then fly again until the heli has trouble lifting off.

The packs for the Pro are around $40. What do they run for the CX2 and can you get a deal in the net?

The CX2 packs are around $25 each. I picked up one spare stock pack and 3 maxamps 1100 mah packs for the same price. I have yet to use the maxamps packs since the stock battery holder will need to be hacked up to accommodate the wider maxamps packs. Most guys are just cutting the stock battery holder tabs off and using a couple rubber bands to secure the wider aftermarket battery packs to the lower frame. I plan on cutting a small strip of lexan and glueing it to the lower frame, and then add a small strip of velcro. That plus the rubber bands should make a very secure battery holder.

I picked-up 1 extra pack for now.

What parts tend to break easily that I should stock-up on? I assume I should get some extra blades.

UPS tracking shown the Heli to be out for delivery. It's always exciting to have a package waiting for me when I get home.

Extra top and bottom blades. Two upgrades right out of the box are the aluminum head and aluminum upper bearing holder. The stock head tends to break easily and the aluminum head has a replaceable inner shaft. I'd also pick up a spare main shaft/gear.

So far I have about 2 hours of flight time on my CX2 and I have broken two sets of upper blades, one set of lower blades, bent one main shaft, and two bent inner shafts. Of course YMMV.
