Hello all 1st post of many. I just put together a big block t-maxx with an xtm conversion kit. I got the used axial .28 up and running late last night. Today I started tuning and obviously as soon as I got the tune even close I started hammering it and quickly smoked the 1 speed transmission I had. My question is if I am going to go with full metal gears is it worth getting the new 3.3 type transmission or is the old 2.5 type as good with metal gears are installed?

i use the 2.5 tranny with all metal gears and it is tough as nails, i haul a 10 pound trailer with it, and have a 76T spur for input, you can now get all metal gears for it from RRP and the two output gears from Golden Horizon, so you can keep reverse and still have all metal gears

Gonna try the new type.

Hey, I got a steal on a new 3.3 grey forward only rtr pull on ebay. We will see how long it will hold up with the stock gears. I'll get the robinson full metal set when they melt. What lube do you recommend with the extra driveline heat created from the big block? Thanks for the replys. Tom
