What is the biggest, baddest, most hp engine you can throw in a revo without too much mods to install ? I would assume this would be a big block. I would like to keep up with the New Savage Flux HP.

Picco .26 max Red Dot. All you need is a new engine mount and you'll probably want a side-mount pipe.

The Revo driveline is built for plenty of power, but you'll probably still need metal center driveshafts.

Thanks Cupooterluvr !! Do u use this setup? Is it worth it to do all the mods for a .28 BB or a .30 (any diff. over the .26)?

I have the Picco .26 in my Maxx and it is more than enough power. I think that anything bigger than the Picco just won't be fun. All it will do is use fuel really fast and wheelie uncontrollably. That's what the Picco does in my Maxx, and I had to learn to start off slow to keep the wheelies down.

The Revo has a longer chassis, and so will better be able to handle the .26, but anything bigger than that will be like the .26 in my Maxx.

Those engines will make your rig move like a bullet. But you still wont keep up with a Flux those things are insanely fast!

Dude, the Picco .26 is the perfect way to get great power without much mod. All of your stock stuff will bolt onto it, ie; flywheel, clutch, clutchbell, header, EZ start, etc. All you need is a $20 Ofna mount and you're in business. Great motor, especially for the price and ease of installation. I ran the OS 28XZ in my Truggy and downgraded because it was too much for good handling. I suppose if all you do is go in a straight line and don't care about your truck, the 28 would be fine. As for the Revo driveline holding up to the power. You do not need metal center driveline to run the picco I raced mine competitively with the stock drivetrain and it did just fine.

Keep in mind there are different ways of keeping up. Is the driver of the HPI an experienced tuner or is did he pull his rig out of the box and turn it loose? The revo handles exceptionally well and with very little tweaking can likely out maneuver the HPI. Watch the HPI, look for his weak spots. Does he brake late for corners, roll often, over fly jumps, spin out exiting corners?
If you concern is "beating the flux" find a place for a challenge that suits your set up and lure him into your world. If your set up is turning better lap times because you chose proper gearing combos, lowered your ride by backing off spring preload and put heavier shock oil or changed shock valving and are now out maneuvering him, out cornering him and out performing him but he still smokes you in a drag race....then let him have it. Just remember to keep your tuning secrets to yourself. Agreed the Savage flux is a serious contender but, although you'll not likely make the power of this machine, I feel confident in your ability to make it handle better.

Don't forget the ever popular fresh spash of gas and off you go running again while he's packing up to go "recharge"... challenge him to 50 lap endurance race or something. I guess it all comes down to if you are going to compare apples to oranges, you should first decide which one you think taste better.
