That nice complete ebay package look good! all those goodies and look its the same price as just the vehicle at your LHS! I am sure everyone thats been around RC for awhile knows to becarefull when buying RC on ebay,.... but for all you folks that don't here is another sad tale of a guy that didn't listen that I saw at my LHS today.... He bought a Tmax with aftermarket engine and all, gets the car no crystal, no plug, no AM reciver, a head that looked like a fork after it went down the garbage disposal, and the engines compression........well, whats compression anyhow it only makes your car work right?????? BUT....the pictures looked good he said........becarefull what you bid on out there!

THis has been a public service anouncment, brought to you by uninformed poeple....

I’ve bought about 50 to 60 different items off of ebay and yet (and I said yet) had any problems. What I look fore is NIB if not that then the seller will be getting many emails from me asking for info.

I've bought alot of stuff on ebay as well...so far the only time I've been burned is when I got into a bidding war over a lot of tons of used tires and wheels. The pictures looked great, the info the guy gave me was great but to be on the safe side I decided not to pay more than half of what i would for "new" tires.

It comes down to the last 5 min and I'm out bid. I go in for a dollar more and I'm outbid again....I've been waiting for the damn auction to end for 2 days now and it finally here and i keep being outbid. Grrrrr so we keep playing the i out bid you game until I end up paying $50 for tires that are complete crap. I trew most of them away I was so disgusted. If I only paid the $20 i said I was going to to begin with I wouldnt have cared but for $50 I was upset. live and learn.

same here i have only had 1 incodent of a guy ripping me off. he wouldnt answer any of my e-mails and after about 7 weeks he finally came back and told me that my money order got lost behind the mail ladies box. so by then i had already went and got my money back. they the fag left me negative feedback saying that i didnt send him the money!?!?!?!?!!?

Out of many transactions the only one I had with any kind of a negative rsult was bidding on Savage tires. The bid said GT Compound Savage tires and foams (new). I placed a low bid and was the only bidder. I got the bid and sent the guy the the money (money order). Didn't hear anything for two weeks so I emailed him. "Well, I'll have to check it out". I got back again and asked what was up with the "Check it out and get back to me"? I just told him I'd give him 5 days to ship the item to me or I was going to the US Postal Service to cancel the money order or make a complaint (as required). He got back to me saying the bid was only for two tires and foams and not four. I did get the tires and foams (new in HPI packaging) and it was only two. I still got them for about $8.00 cheaper than I could have bought them but it was a hassle dealing with the guy. I'm convinced that had I not hounded him with email and the threat of going to the post office that I would not have gotten my item. I also made it clear that I wasn't happy with his item description, for not stating two tires (why woud someone generallly buy two Savage tires?) Anyway, if in doubt about the description, email the person first to get details. I was just lucky that what I paid was less than the hobby shop purchase price.
All my other ebay bid purchases went very well with no problems and that was for items from R/C products to exotic wood (for woodworking I do in the winter).
Buyer beware! Especially on any USED items. I'd advise deciding on what you want to bid and keeping to that maximum amount unless you maybe go only a dollar or two higher. I have also actually seen a person I know bid on a freinds item to just bring up the price close to the end of the auctions. Not R/C stuff but it could very well happen with anything. The last minute bids make me suspicious. NIB is the best and checking feedback and transaction numbers helps a lot too.

i am ok with buying used items, but motors, and complete trucks i dont buy used. u just dont know what u are going too get.

yeah you have to be careful. I've had my share of burns with used RC stuff. i did however buy my radio, steering servo, tuned pipe and my engine on ebay. all of them were new and that's the key i think. buying used is where i gets sticky -- engines and full RC's are the worst like someone said.

:nope: You have to be careful buying engines USED. My friend got an OS .12 CV-R from ebay saying the motor was "USED"....the engine was crap when he installed it...his stock Hpi 15FE performed better:nope:

i bought a trinity siro .21 off someone on another board.. 1 tank thru it said the ad.. paid, finally install it, run it.. runs all wack.. the head was loose, the piston/head looks like it seen a cheese grinder... but hey the out side was **mint**.. so 250 down the drain since he doesn't respond to emails..

Ya gotta be careful, check out all the feedback on the seller, and read EVERYTHING about what you're bidding on. And even then you could get hosed. I use eBay for things other than R/C and I can tell you there are sellers out there who have no clue at all what they're selling.

Well I can tell you i've had pretty good experiences with ebay. Haven't done a lot of business through them, but overall good. Never got screwed. Bought an incomplete Nitro OB4 for the aluminum, came with an old megatech engine that ran awesome.

But I gotta admit, when I sold both my Nitro MT and my Nitro Ob4, I didn't mention things that were wrong. The MT had the old 15fe that wasn't properly broken in. It ran but as far as I knew, didn't really move the truck. The Ob4's 2 speed didn't shift (never could figure out why even after working with it for 2 days). Also the spare megatech I gave with the ob4 wouldn't fit and I accidently messed with the MSN which made it go way out of wack.

The MT was sold for a bit more than it was worth and the OB4 was sold probably less than it was worth. Both buyers gave me positive feedback and I have yet to receive an e-mail complaining so I guess it's all good.

After what I pulled though, I now only deal with people with almost 100% positive feedback and only buy new products. Last thing i've bought is my novarossi which was NIB and I have some Sound deadening material coming in probably on friday or saturday.

hey guys heres a good tip on bidding on ebay.Believe me it will help you a lot. If you plan on bidding on an item you should alays email the guy and ask him for a money back gurantee if you dont like the item and get his phone number on where you can contact him.

I have had Great experiences with EBay and Horrors.

I actually have fun looking around ebay and finding stuff you can only find at Garage sales.

I made the mistake of buying a used laptop from someone with Low feedback. Well to make a long story short that person was eventually Arrested by the NJ prosecutor's office...but I was still out $389. Both Ebay and Paypal have a supposed insurance against scams. I was not able to recoup 1 Dime from either of these company's

I was bummed for months.
