better performance. Electric or gas????

the brushless motors correct me if I'm wrong but the coils are on the rotor itself and the magnets are outside of the coils.

That's a brushed motor. Brushless motors have the coiled up wires on the inside of the can. All that is on the rotor is a magnet. Only wear part is the bearings in each end of the can.

hey i was right on one of the motors. yeah thanks now i know for sure

I have nitro and I love it, it's fast enough for me and I can run for however long I want. The sound always gets peoples attention. Nitro fuel really isn't that expensive. I get about 18-20 min a tank and it's a tiny tank on my evo+

Also lets not forget that once you drain your batteries you have to recharged them lol. Nitro just fill up and go

This is how I see it you have more room and not to many people around nitro if you have alot of people around electric so its up to you

To answer the question asked...

Electric. There is no debate here.

More torque
More RPM's
Longer runtime
Lighter, lower, more consistant weight.

If the question is performance only, modern electric wins hands down.

As much as I'd like to, you can't argue this one. But having said that, electric isn't for me and I'll never run'em.

It's all a matter of personal opinion. We have our die hard electric fans and our die hard nitro fans. I am a die hard nitro fan. I can't stand having to charge a battery all the time.
I get more run time on a tank of fuel then i did on a battery no matter what size battery i used. The electric will not tick off the neighbors but I like to hear my car run. You can't beat the rummble of a nitro compared to that crappy buzz of electric. Anyway....Id like to see your electric keep up with my savage xl.

back to the answer for the question, I have both Nitro and electric and the brushless setup with 3s lipo wins every time. Electric can deliver 100% of its torque all the way through the rpm range where combustion based motors must reach a certain RPM to even start making power. If I took my brushless 3s slash and LST2 side by side the slash would win hands down.

Id like to see your electric keep up with my savage xl.

Id like to see your savage outrun an electric.

what powers the fastest RC? ELECTRIC Why not Nitro? cos it doesn't have the performance!

You know what would be f'n funny as hell?

The expression on your face when my RC18t goes flying past the savage xl. 1/8 vs 1/18, would be like a vw bug passing up a bigfoot. lol

Who really cares! It all depends on ppl's set ups. Some electics are faster than nitro and some nitros are faster than electrics.

All depends on how much $ ya want to spend. The only brushless I've seen in person is my buddies RC18t with 2s. It makes me giggle every time he nails it! Electrics win hands down in all out performance. And brushless cost is coming down. Though it would still be quite expensive for a nitro guy to switch over to brushless/lipo from scratch. That rc18 made a believer out of me, though. The little rat runs forever, too! Still a $450 investment just for a mini? That's a picco, drivetrain, and digital radio for my T Maxx(roughly)! If ya have a few nitro buddies ya run with, you can save a little dough by buying fuel in bulk and splitting the cost.

Top dollar nitro for top dollar electric......yes the sparkies win every time. The Savage Flux is bragged to reach 60+MPH. My nitro Savage is DAMN fast for a MT. However....60mph? Hell yeah it can do that, and faster! (in the trunk (boot)of my car). My Mamba Maxx RC10T4 is retarded fast.....faster than its aerodynamics will safely let it. It "tries" to fly at full speed. At a certian speed it floats a bit and then cartwheels......that was a bad day.

But you could also say what are they used for? Racing, drifting, bashing I'm sure there are diff situations where electric is better then situations where nitro is better.

I still don't like the fact that electric you can only run for like 45 min. LOL. I run my nitro for hours and hours at a time. :)

Forget nitro AND electric... nuclear reactors are the way to go :D
