better cooling head??

1/4 inch, in SAE, is either 1/4X20 or 1/4X32, with 20 being the most common.
I never put a thread gauge on a glow plug, so I'll take your word on this. I thought they would be metric.

actually the two common 1/4" thread pitches are 20 and 28 but the glowplug is a 32. probably because its so short and they needed more threads on that short length. anywyas, the teacher that has the tap forgot it at his house but he said he should have it on monday. i didnt work much on it today anyways. i dont think itll be done till like monday or tuesday unless i can find a 1/4 - 32 tap.....i doubt it though, he had to special order it and it took like a week for him to get it, he said i can use it for free. ill keep ya updated as i figure stuff out and get things done.
 
You caught me. After I had gone to bed last night, I remembered that I hadn't mentioned 1/4X28, and thought, "what's wrong with my brain in this thread."
Anyway you're probably right about the 32 due to it's.........

just thought id post an update (and bump my thread lol) i didnt get the head done over the weekend and i didnt quite get it finished today. i really hope to be done tomorrow, i dont think itll take very long. all i have left is the 4 holes to hold it on and the big internal diameter and a little relief for the screws. I've got it all to length and diameter though and it looks really good. i made each fin .050" thick with a .125 gap between each. i think theres 7 or 8 fins, i dont remember. then i made the very top fin .100 thick so itll hold up more if i flip it or anything. hope to get pics soon!! actually probably on wednesday.

ha ha ha....no big deal though. in my eyes, they made it a 32 pitch thread cuz the plug needs more threads on the short length. if the plug is 1/4" long and they made it a 20 pitch thread, there would only be 5 threads. if it was a 28, there would only be 7 threads. since its 32, theres 8 threads (assuming its 1/4" long which should be close to being right.) its confusing cuz most people only know of a UNC and a UNF pitch (Unified Nat'l Coarse and Unified Nat'l Fine) for each screw diameter. theres really like 6 or 8 or more for each screw diameter
 
Cool. That will be neat to see. I made a few chess pieces in college with a lathe. Writing the program for that thing sucked!

One of my classmates was a wizz on it and he made a plane propellor... you just needed a chess piece to pass, I just passed.

well i finished it up today, it looks really good and i think it will work very well. the only problem is that i need longer screws to attach it to the engine. i dont know what size they even are for sure. i think they are 3 - 48's and i need like 1 1/4" long. i will probably just try to counterbore the holes so i can use the original screws but i can't do that till tomorrow at school. i hafta work after school tomorrow too so i dont know if ill have time to get it back together and take pics or not. I'm so mad right now, i can't even start it to see if everything works either. i just put new bearings on one of my back tires, they were shreaded, almost completely gone. i also need to fix my pullstart (cord broke) before i can run it. i really think itll work though, i just need to get the screws for it. ill get pics as soon as i can (i need to go to my dads house to borrow his digital camera) and ill keep you all updated
 
Well, anyway, you're almost there. Still waiting on the pics. I think you're better off drilling deeper in the head, rather than using longer screws.

oh yea? whys that? i think I'm gonna counterbore it tomorrow though. i just can't find longer screws. i just hope i dont mess it up when i counterbore it. I'm sorry to say but i think you all will hafta wait on pics for a while. i hope to get my step moms digital camera sometime next week. maybe not even till next weekend. sorry but I've been busy lately and i havent even had a chance to drive it yet. not only that but I'm goin broke so I'm tryin to work as much as i can
 
Just to stay on the safe side, I'd make the same screws fit both heads. It's like any other head swap, same thread depth, no other alterations.
Still no pics? How about a mechanical drawing. That'll hold us for a while.
 
well i put it on yesterday and had it running then i changed some stuff around today and lost the screws!! I'm so mad. i think the only way i can get the screws is in a $7 assortment. i still need a glowplug, fuel, a fail safe, and a whole bunch of other stuff to spend my money on. basically i need more money than I've got. oh yea mothers day is coming up soon too, i gotta figure out what I'm gonna do for that. i think my gt will be on the back burner for a while.....
 
Keep the pics in mind, even if you don't get it running for a while.
I'm REALLY pleased with the monster cooling head in mine. I've run a gallon through it this week.
 
i know its been a hwile but i finally got a few pics of my truck. too bad i forgot to put them online. they are still sitting on my computer at my dads house. i may run out there tomorrow after school so i can get them up and be able to show you all. sorry for such a long wait but I've been busy a lot lately and I'm still short on money so when something breaks it usually takes a while for me to get it back up and running. like i said i did get pics though, i think about 4 of them. i just had my street tires on, just running up and down the road. sometime ill get my trac-ta-gators back on and have some fun. i can probably get video too, does anybody know of a good way to host vids??

i didnt take the time to crop them or anything but they are there so its all good. these were at my dads house when i was running up and down the road. I've got my stock tires on and i took a lot of time to make them slicks lol. the only other tires I've got are for grass and there isnt enough yard there for me to run on. its tuned about 1/2 turn lean from stock on the hsn and lsn, stock is a little rich though. it normally runs at like 230 or so. tuesday i was running in a parking lot and i hit a little jump one of my friends put up, only hit it with one side of the car though. it rolled and smacked that huge head on the ground. i havent run since then, i want to take the head off and make sure i didnt pull out screws or anything.
