Does anyone know of a better way to mount the batteries to an RC10GT? I did as the manual said and used a couple of zip-tys but when I was running it the other day the battery pack came loose, fell off the car and disconnected. My car got stuck WOT, ran into a tree, flipped over and sat there upside down with the throttle pegged. Fortunately no damage to the car (at least after initial inspection) but I burnt my finger a little pluggin the pipe to stop the engine. Anyway, is there any sort of after market item to hold the batteries more securely? Maybe some sort of a case or something... Thanks.

Matt

Can you post a pic of the topside of the truck with the body off? I have a tendency to get creative with hose clamps... it's what I used on my maxx, xxx-nt, HPI NitroMT and currently my savage to hold the battery pack on. Easy to remove, but solid as hell.

Just to give you some ideas:

Make sure to wrap the pack with black electrical tape where the hose clamp squeezes it as to not damage the pack. Also, don't go too tight as it will smash the cells inside the pack.

If I'm not mistaekn RPM makes a battery holder for the gt. I'll do some checking and get back to you.

I use 4 zip ties through the 2 holes in the holder. Then, i wrap the pack sideways with electrical tape. Holds it super securely, and i havent had a problem yet.

Thanks for the replies. I think I know why it fell out last time - I didn't use both holes when using the zip ties which made it basically impossible to hold it securely. So now I will make sure to run the zip ties through both holes and I will use stronger zip ties as well. I do like the idea of using hose clamps, I think I will look into that as well.

I'm sure hose clamps may work for some things but I wouldn't use them on batterys. When you tighten up a hose clamp it will crush or deform the batterys. Your pack is in the shape of a triangle. The hose clamp is made for attaching a round object to another round object. The SS on the clamp is stronger then the battery casing. The casing will give before the clamp is tight enough to do any good. I would also be concerned about the edges cutting into the battery casing.

Zip ties work great, they just need to be used properly. I highly recommend not using a hose clamp.
