Best Soldering Station

What would be a good soldering station, I wont be using it everyday, just every now and then to change some plugs, and for repairs if needed. Don't want to spend A lot of $$ on something i wont use a lot but i want one that works good when i need it.

Patrick, the team checkpoint stations seem to be very popular for a very reasonable price. A good soldering station is a must have for electric stuff, period.

I use the Team Checkpoint TC950 and really like it. You can also check out the Hakko FX-888, both very nice solder stations.

this is the one that i have and its relatively cheaply priced, works great and holds temp with in a couple of degrees at "idle"

I use the Team Checkpoint TK950 as well...it an awesome station for the money.

went with the digital radio shack, was such a good deal i couldnt pass it up.

I absolutely LOVE my Hakko 888. I actually prefer NOT to use the sponge to clean it. I use the brass wool. Does a fantastic job and doesn't cool the tip.

this one was new in the box with extra tips, solder and flux for 1/2 that so I'm happy

i used a bulb dimmer to turn the "heat" down. yes i know it doesn't turn the temp down, but it works good enough. and only cost $24.

I have a Weller soldering iron and it has worked great for me every time I have used for replacing capacitors. I wouldn't want to try to remove any 30 pin chips with it though. Electrical
