I'm getting tired as hell of fixing something everytime I take my T-Maxx out to do some bashing. So, I am going to be getting a new MT really soon and let my T-maxx sit on the shelf for a while. Based on your opinions what is the best MT out there. The main thing I am concerened w/ is the durability of the truck. I want something that will auctually start when I want it too and be able to be used most of the time. So please give your suggestions. :arrr:

First, I would recommend using the search function of the site as this particular topic of discussion shows up fairly frequently.

Second, for durability out of the box...the Savage (of any flavor) is the hands down winner when it comes to durable MTs. You will spend much less to repair it as you will not be doing many repairs.

I sounded just like you when I had my Maxx. I eventually parted w/ it & scooped up the Savage. There is a world of difference b/t the two when it comes to durability. You will probably get many people to tell you the same thing.

Or you can wait and see how the Losi Super Truck holds up when it drops. Here is a link to check out some picks & catch a video.

Later....:mex:

i am also getting a Savage in the next few weeks due to the poopy durabilty of my MAXX. The MAXX will proobly be for the friends to bash with so if it breaks who cares right. And then I'm thinking of dropping a truckzilla in the savage over the winter once i get it.

MGT is rapidly moving up on the ladder as one of the best MT. The best is Savage.

I've owned a T-Maxx also, so I'd have to say a Savage SS/25. I absolutely love it!!
Very durable and excellent after market support. Give the S25 a chance because it is a really great engine, at least for me. With the SS pipe and a MotorSaver filter it absolutely rocks!!

i would personally say the savage cause in my opinion it has great durability and compared to all the horror stories i heard about the tmaxx, it is more durabul(sp.?) the the maxx. or you could wait for the new CEN Genesis to make it to the stores and see how that works out. that looks like a pretty good truck to me.

Not to de-rail a thread... but you guys that like the savage, how are your shocks holding up? I bought mine from sky, and he had HB shocks on it. Of which, I busted 6 out of the 8 in the first outing... my little sportmaxx walked away from the day with broken aluminum bulks.

I was just curious as to if the stock shocks hold up to any serious bashing (6-8 feet of air), or do the crap out as quickly as the HB shocks?

I guess it doesn't really matter much, as I just bought the new era upper arms and supermaxx shocks like I have on my sport maxx. But I do have the stockers since Sky was kind enough to ship them with the rig. But, they don't look any stronger than the HB ones, so instead of getting all annoyed, I'm upgrading.

ok well i couldnt wait so i ordered my Savage yesterday should have it by friday of next week. Then i can hang with the almighty savage crew. lol

olds, my stock shocks have been great, when i got off jumps which isnt really often there usually pretty high and i havent broken any yet. the only thing i did was get harder springs cause i dont like my shocks really soft.

Savage,I own 1 along with 2 Maxxs, The Maxxs are great after about a grand of aluminum, nylon and steel. My Savage has 3 non HPI parts Golden Horizon aluminum brake hub,Kimbrough servo saver and assorted wheels and tires ohh and electronics which mine didnt come with so I dont consider a hop-up? Olds get on E-Bay and buy yourself some stock shocks, you wont regret it!

Hmmmm....stop bashing the maxx then. If that's too much for you to handle, get a Savage.

Dude, I am totally with you there. Traxxas makes a weak-ass product in the T-Maxx. I have two Maxxes and they have eaten up a ton of my money, but no more. I recently bought a Monster GT and I love it. I am using it mostly for racing and it works great. I have done some major league stuffs and rolls with no breakage. I just bought another Monster GT, to have as a backup, but I will prolly end up getting the Losi LST, as that is a great looking rig too.

If I was just a heavy basher, I would look into the Savage.

I do know that with the right hop ups, a maxx can be relatively tough.

I have a sport maxx that I built, that I break very few parts on anymore. The list is:
Orion Wasp 18 engine ($90)
RPM arms ($50)
CVD's on rear wheel axles only ($40)
2 wheel drive (took off front diff and sliders)
al bulks ($60 [integy sux])
al chassis rails ($50 traxxas)
spring steel skid/bumpers (with custom rubber stop) ($40 Rc-solutions)
new era 3 point roll bar ($40 New Era)
hitec 645mg steering ($40 Hitec)
pro-line steering kit ($40 Pro-Line)
al diff case ($25 integy)
al diff cup ($50 Maximizer with mod'd stock gear)

That's $525 just in hop ups.
The truck started as a 2.5 maxx ($400),
turned it into a 21 maxx($600),
gave up and turned it into a sport maxx ($90).

The reason the sport maxx was so cheap was due to having all the crap up above already... I just needed a new engine and the orion is cheap.

Now I literally beat the crap out of the thing for 2-3 hours at a time, usually I only shut it off a couple times to re-position ramps, or drive my 1:1 somewere else to bash. Rarely do I break something anymore.

Definitely a Savage! My bro-in-law bought a 2.5 Maxx and it's now really durable....after dumping a ton of money in it. And buying all that aluminum and titanium to make it more durable makes it heavier, which slows it down.

Skip all that and go right for the Savage. My bro-in-law had had enough of his T-Maxx and saw how much fun we were having with our Savages and he bought one too. Sure, we've broken some parts, but only after major beatings and usually the parts that let go are super cheap to replace!

As for the shocks, my friend ran the Hot Bodies shocks for one weekend and bent three of them. He went back to stock and rarely breaks/bends them. I think I've gone through about four in the 18 months I've had my truck, and I don't baby it! Check out the www.slapmafro.com videos for proof.
