This question comes up alot, and has many variables, such as
  • are u racing, or bashing?
  • do you want performance or reliability?
  • do you want acceleration, or top speed?

.....and so on, and so on.

These are my recommendations

OS CV-R series - Most reliable race engine

Rossi Pixie Outlaw - Most horsepower

Mugen MT-12 - Most low end torque
-----------------------------------------------------------------
- The OS mill is one of the most reliable engines out there. It is very fast, and quite inexpensive (about 130.00)
- The Rossi is just awesome. I own one. The only problem is that it is very difficult to tune, and very expensive (about 280.00)
- The Mugen mill is just amazing at acceleration. This is the engine of choice for short track racers. I have seen this engine run several times, and am always impressed.
=========================
Overall, though - I would have to say that the OS CV-R and TR series are probably the best overall engines out there for touring cars.

Hope this helps.

what car do u have. certain cars can fit bigger engines. the yokomo gt4 rtr can fit a .18. if that s wat u got get the sirio .18 for the tmaxx. itll have the most power by far

savagesquirrel - this is the onroad touring forum - something tells me that this engine is not for a savage, lol.

Dont mistake the RX.18 from yokomo as a larger mill. It is a small block which means its the same size as a .12, but more capacity. Also, although it is larger, it does not mean it is faster. A lot of higher quality 12s will beat the .18 by yokomo as well as the 2.5 by traxxas

Outlaw

RB X12 5 port turbo Rody Roem- 315
JP Modified MT12- 299 (hard to find)

Legal

RB X12 turbo Rody Mod 200
Mugen MT12 turbo 150
RB X12 turbo 150

I didn't think it would fit, I remembered that the RX-18 is small enough to fit in most touring cars, while the Sirio is designed for an MT.

Yeah, I believe you are correct.

I am an RB fan. I have a RB X12 turbo 5 port Non-modifed. My friend who runs a Serpent 705 with a Modified Michael Salven Nova Mega turbo 12 thinks I could beat a JP black (which is said to be the fastest mill out there). Now if you were to get the Rody Roem Modified RB X12 turbo 5 port, then DAMN! You will be flying.

Check the site. Scroll all the way to the bottom. I got the 310. The stars are a meter of how much power the mill has as compaired to their other mills. They dont like to claim HP rates (which I think is very honest). Now look at the 315 (Rody Mod) and how many more stars it has as compared to mine. DAMN! is all I got to say. I want one.

That would be so nice to have that in my car, only problem is it probably costs more than the entire car, new(i got my GT-4 RTR @ Hobby People for $300).

I got my gt4 from hobby people too. I dont mind spending the money on the engine because you can always take it out and put it in something else.

The GT4 can handle this power with ease. Its a great ride even though parts are a little harder to get than say an HPI.

I've been considering a new engine and that's pretty cool that the chassis can already cope with the power without any mods, but that's true about the parts, I ordered a replacement header from Hobby People, and 2 months later they said they couldn't get it.

yo a really nice engine to get that is legal would be the novarossi ns12. I'm running this engine in my gt4 and its really fast u get good torque and great top end

I am looking for an engine for a Trinity Reflex Touring Team Kit and I would like to get one of those engines the Rody Mod....where can I buy/obtain one of these engines....my local lhs shops do not carry them.

I was going to get a Trin. Black Pixi Outlaw (5 port) but I may pass on that if I can get one of these engines.
