Well i did some searching and didn't find what i was looking for,Basiclly I'm wanting a reliable tuning engine, wich mucho Hp and torque, price isn't a problem as long as it's not a $350 plus, engine please give me some help.

I was in the same boat as you, and I got a Picco .28. I was comparing all the big block engines that were around 200 or so, and I was told by people here on RCNT the Picco .28 was the way to go. I will get the engine this saturday and probably break it in on Sunday or Monday and I can let you know what I think. I've seen some vids of Savages with this engine and I was very impressed. I was also told it is pretty easy to tune.

Alright,I'm be really advised to buy a O.S .30 but iunno I'm wanting big power and torque.

I hear the OS 30 is great for torque, but is a little lacking on the top end. The OS should last a long time and be bery easy to tune I would imagine.

Well if i can find somebody that's owned both engines that would be cool to have a comparision,Right now I'm considering the Lrp.28,Picco.28,And the OS.30 Just need to find the right engine for bashing and some backyard racing.

Well the vid I saw of the Picco .28 the guy was running 20/46 gearing and it was still lifting up the front wheels when he wanted, so I bought the HPI wheelie bar for my Savvy to try and help with that.

All three of those engines are going to have plenty, probably too much, power. The Picco .28 was cheaper by about 50 than the OS so I went with that. I didn't really consider the LRP.

I bought the axial .32 and i've over 2 gallons throught it now and not a problem,it runs a 240-250 steady, very easy to start with a mcoy-08 plug.I've been running it on 30% sidewinder and 16/48 gearing and Big Joe's.The performance has been unreal,i have the extended LCG TVP's and do alot of hill climbing with the throttle held wide open for quite some time.
I've read alot of posts on different sites some good most bad...i have yet to see any of this bad.The LHS up here has sold over 50+ of this motors and not one rod, piston and sleeve combo yet, plus they are really cheap to buy also.

just my 2 cents...

I'm running the wasp 28......has lots of power & speed on both high & low ends......does wheelies on demand on my savage which weights 24.50lbs........the engine has so much power i had to go to a 52t spur gear.......the only thing i dont like about the wasp 28 is that it took about 8 tanks to get the thing broke in enough to start the fine tuning phase but the end results was worth it......i payed i think around 280$ w/tax for the engine itself from hobbytown in tyler......

What did you do to make your savage weigh 25 lbs?? How did a 52T spur help the excess of power? That would give you more torque. And why did you pay $280 for a Wasp .28? They are usually around $150 or so...

I've owned 2 Wasp .28s and they are decent engines. The problems I had were breakin, just as speedticket said, the are a PITA to breakin cuase they are VERY tight. Once broken in they are quite powerful, but I had trouble keeping mine tuned. The sweet spot is small, but when you find it the power is great.

I think the quality of the Wasp is a level below that of the Picco/OS/LRP and other bigblock engines. I would suggest going with one of the ones you are already thinking about.

i meant 14.50lbs & 180$.......hit the wrong button.........everything at the hobbyshop here is higher than most.......cheaper online but i wanted it rite then.....i had to preheat the engine with a heatgun the first 2-3 starts because of it being such a tight engine......i had to go to the 52t gear cause i was using a 49t which the engine would strip if i give it too much throttle to fast......

Good info to know about,if anybody has vid link's or anything else they would like to share that would be awesome,I'm definatlly gonna have a hard time choosing now.

I've had two wasp .28s and didn't have too good of luck with them. They ran okay, but not stable. Excess power, but they just ran kind of funny.

I bought a picco .26, by werks racing, and I'm planning on breaking it in tomorrow. I'll let you guys know how she does.

I dunnno if I'm even going to concider the wasp, after reading about people have problems, and them being a pita to tune,Id rather stay away from them,I think i might end up buying the lrp,but iunno the picco .28 and o.s 30 are still high on the list, too bad no mag's done a comparision of these 3 engines.

Oh...ok 14 lbs and $180 is a bit more believeable.

I had to heat my Wasps to get them started as well. I'm surprised switching to a 52 would help stripping, that would only give it more torque putting more stress on the spur.

Got nitro, check out this thread for some info and a link to a vid on the Picco .28. This is thread that helped me make my decision on the Picco .28.

yea.......that 52t gear didnt make sence to me either .........when i put the wasp on, i set the mesh using a strip of typing paper between the cb & a 49t gear......started it, ran a little then the damned thing stripped......done the same with another 49t.......all i had left to use was a 52t & it had no problems......go figer......

After watching that video it's going to be a real close choice between the lrp .28 spec 3 and the picco.28,Ill probablly buy the lrp because of price and limited flow of cash for hop ups.

I have the axial .28 in mine and the thing friggin RIPS! But it sounds like the axial .32 may be more for you, and it's only like $250. The axial is a GREAT engine. I have not had any problems with mine nor have I heard of any problems with them... My shop has sold several of them as well. The .28 is supposed to be on par with the sirio .27 and the RB .28, which I believe is true. And the .32 is pretty much the same as the surefire .32.
But yea, on my axial, it's running pretty rich, I have all the shock spacers off, the rx batt. way up front, 49/18 gearing and the thing still wheelies like crazy...

Check out the nitrodyne testing on the Axial .28, RB 728, and Sirio S27. Max HP and torque are very similar, not a whole lot of difference between the three. Where you do see a difference is the power delivery, the Sirio and RB are both smoother than the Axial in the higher revs.
