I want to get a 4 cycle on a budget...mainly because I plan on flying a plane very hard and it will most likely end up in the dirt. Can someone tell me which Budget .91 4-cycle they think would be the best Bet for under $200...

Magnum .91 $189.00
Thunder Tiger .91 $179.00

Seems to be the power output looks the same but the Thunder tiger looks a quite a bit more heavier but maybe take makes the idle more stable. Anybody got an opinion...either educated or uneducated?

Hmm.. weird... last time i called around i was told that Magnum and Thunder Tiger engines are the same... :\

get a YS 63fz. 4-stroke supercharged. $250

YS engines are the way to go. They're simply amazing engines, trust me, I got one in my 40 size pattern plane, it owns

Well that engine costs $70 more (half the cost of a new plane), and delivers less horsepower even with the supercharger.

No...I'm not looking for the absolute best...just the best value, least amount of money. I expect to put at least 2 planes into the ground...as I wish to push myself a bit. I'll save purchasing a really good engine for later...

Oh believe me, the YS 63 will be able to keep up with the .91 engines. YS engines are like novarossi engines with the ease of an O.S.

I run a 13 inch prop in my 40 size pattern plane. I could go much bigger, probably 14, but it won't clear the ground.

It's not all about HP either, if you're concerned about HP, get a 2 stroke, 4 strokes are all about torque, and YS engines have more than enough.

I am wondering why you are so set on getting a 4 stroke? If as you say, you will probably stuff the first two planes into the ground, then you have to look at whatever engine you install as expendable. For about $100 you can put a TT .61 on your plane that puts out about the same power as a .91 four stroke. And you won't be out as much cash when you do auger it in.
Now back to four strokes. A friend I fly with swears by Magnum engines. And from what I have seen, they are very good. I have a YS .63 in a 40 size Ultimate bipe. kwong2001 is right. YS engines are the cream of the crop when it comes to fourstrokes. With a 12X7 prop that Ultimate is like a cruise missile. :)
The only drawback to fourstrokers, besides cost, is the maintenance. Every hour or so they need a valve adjustment.
