best .21 engine 4 my max

hi peeps,I'm gona put a .21 engine in my max,i was was just wonderin what u guys think which 1 will give me the best results:marshall:
 
Biggest bang for your buck is the .26 picco or wasp. Same engine, just a slight price difference. I personally like the RB concepts engines, these are strictly for racing and need a engine mod for a pull start.

You will need a conversion kit in order to fit the mills listed above. The only .21 that will directly drop-in to a 2.5 maxx without any conversion is the Picco P2.
 
If you want an easy 10-minute bolt in for the 2.5 Maxx, then get the Picco P2 .21 engine. It uses all existing parts, including EZ-Start. Here's a pic of mine. You will need to use a tuned pipe. I used RD Logics pipe. This thing runs like a dream, much nicer running than my 2.5 was, and it's got way more power. I'm sure something is gonna break in the drivetrain soon, but what the heck.

if money is not an option, and you have some hellova gears and diffs, i would look into the Trinity monster HP 11 port sirio motor. its a .27 and has crazy power. I'm sure El Pirata on here wouldnt mind helping you with a little detail about it " because he runs it in his buggy". But the new RB .28 Coming out is a beast as well, you can't go wrong with a .26 picco either. I guess it depends on your price range. Later
 
If your planning on a 21 conversion I've used 2 engines that I'd reccomend for daily bashings.

The OS 21 RG-X(P) is a good solid performer. I've had a bad experiance with it, but it was a good engine while it lasted. I now run an Omega 21 comp engine. Still relatively cheap (horizon $160), but has a lot more hp than the OS. I'm having a hard time keeping it from flipping on it's roof all the time.

Olds, do they require a conversion? I dont mind chunking out round $150 or more. I just really dont want to have to run a conversion kit.

If I add up conversion $110+engine $150-200 I am at about 280-$310. I could sell my maxx, running well as it is for $175, give some one a killer deal on it, and be in a brand new savage with a .25 for a $100 more

Just looking at investment/return. Of course a savage is $400 right now where as a T-maxx is build as you can afford.. kind of like a lay away..

LOL I'm wondering if that's how all these maxxes get built so big. $25-$50 a month nickel and dime to a bulletproof rig. In the end they end up at well over $500 in upgrades
 
Yes, they require the conversion.

I have about $2000 wrapped up in mine. It's on it's 4th engine, two of which were 21's. About 6 sets of cvd's (rd logics are the best i've found for the price), 8 gallons of fuel, 4 sets of tires (couldn't make up my mind), 9 fuel tanks (one $50 aluminum one), lots of aluminum, misc roll bars....

nickle and dime my ass! Honestly though, that is how it came to be what it is. Started as a $399 maxx at the LHS. Didn't like the engine, tried a different .15, decided a .15 isn't enough for the truck, upgraded to a 21... the rest is history.

I know two guys running that kit and they both love it. The ONLY thing I don't like is the pull-start. However, for $289 I don't think you can beat it. You might find the kit cheaper somewhere else.

I would buy an old 2.5 Maxx and upgrade with that kit, if I could find a backplate to use roto or drill start.
