Just wondering if anyone knows of 53T or larger Spur for the Savage or a 12t or 11T Bell as the Swamp Kongs are killing the performance. Running a 52T and 13T setup with a 5.9 and 3spd.

Hey all, I am looking to get some better top end speed in my savage. Right now its got a 5.9 with a 3 speed in it and a 52 tooth spur and a 15 tooth bell.

Would a 48 tooth spur and a 16 tooth bell give me more speed? Any suggestions ?
Torque is not a huge issue with me, I really don't need to be doing wellies everywhere I go. I just want to pass up my buddies savage.

Gearing too tall for your engine won't give you any extra speed really. But seeing the engine/3-speed you have, you should be able to pull that gearing. However, you may not get as many RPM's out of the engine because of it so you may not see much more top speed. I'd try increasing the bell 1 tooth and see how you like it.Then if you want more and it seems to do ok, drop the spur a couple teeth.

Keep in mind, taller gearing is harder on the clutch and the engine. Both have to work harder all the time to keep the truck moving.

Gotcha. Right now I am running a 52 tooth spur and a 18 bell
I have a 16 bell but was not sure if that would help any.
I can get a 48 tooth spur gear and use either the 16 or 18 bell with it.

I am still new at this and don't fully understand the combinations. Out of the spurs and bells I listed would the 48 tooth spur and the 18 bell give me the best top speed ?

Higher the bell, faster the gear.
Lower the bell, slower the gear.

Higher the spur, slower the gear.
Lower the spur, faster the gear.

As noted, gearing too tall may give you no real speed increase if the clutch/engine can't pull it.

Kind of surprised you can actually fit 52/18 in there. I didn't think it would mesh.

Thanks a bunch I think I will go with the 48 and the 16 and see how I like it.
