Beautiful Scale Build

oh my god that is spectacular work. the little soda cans and cd player are just bad ass.

Just to be clear, this isn't my scaler. It one a contest that was put on with four builders. They were sent tons of parts, and they had to build the best scale rig possible and use those parts. There are links that will take you to the other rigs which are also beautiful, the buildoff thread, and the build threads for each rig.

no doubt, must take some really small cd's :)

what do they make the stuff like the soda can out of?

Styrene and gutter material the head unit was copied and the reduced over and over till it looked right.

You can buy lots of scale accessories like the soda cans, ice chests, sleeping bags, the possibilities are endless. I find that the detail is much better when you make it yourself though. Doll house accessories also make good scale parts. If yout want to see some sweet scale access., check out NCNitro's tuber build. His bungee cords and fire extenguisher look better than anything I've seen for sale. Also, Chip has a thread with his scalers in it, he's had some beautiful rigs.

Beautiful. If I had a choice, I'd take the scaler over the real one. As soon as I saw the CD player that looks like the Pioneer I have in my car, I realized I have to add it to the Rubicon dash.
I still think NCNitro's tuber is far more realistic so far, between the frame that looks like a Jeep even without a lid, and the open body with the flat paint.
I'm waiting to see that one in a magazine.

I'm with you Ralph, I just like the overall style of NCNitro's rig A LOT, but I'm not trying to take credit away from the FJ40, he put a lot of time and effort into that build and I think they were judged accordingly. The other rides in the contest were beautiful as well, but the attention to detail seemed to be a little better in this one, and I REALLY liked the fact that he picked a fullsize rig to base it off of.

I certainly agree with that. Duplicating the real thing makes it even more amazing.
I can't find the link to the other builds.

i never even thought about doll house stuff working, thats cool. are the seats hand made or a bought item? still can't get over how real this rig look, same with chip's rigs they are all amazing.

Up near the top of the page, there is a link that says something like "For more information on the contest, click here." When you click on that it will take you to the information that you need.
