A nationwide commercial for an R/C product will be filmed at the Reno R/C Speedway on Thursday August 3, 2006. The film crews will be using the track all day, and a contribution will be made to the Association. We are free to watch all we want, but let's stay out of their way. I will post more details as they become available.

Found this in my email today from my local track administrator. Not sure what the product is going to be as yet. More details to come. Pretty cool. Tracks been up for about 2 months and now this. I will let you know, when I know more. That will be on a Thursday so I will make sure I am there to see whats the hubla, Maybe get some freebies too.

I have a feeling it's going to be a promo or ad or w/e for the new hasbro rc's, lol. They are taking some serious ads out on it from what I've seen, and they really want it to be sucessful.
Why am I keeping tabs on these trucks you ask? Well, as you know, hobbytown USA will be the exclusive dealer for parts, and they will carry the trucks too. And, I just so happen to work at a hobbytown so I'm kinda forced too...mostly because the boss and co-workers keep telling me about it because I'll have to know about it....

As long as ya don't expect us to sell our savages and get one, we're cool with ya bein forced to learn about it.

Somehow, I doubt Hasbro will "rent" an entire track for a day. The last commercial of theirs that I've seen had them driving them through a forest/lawn area.

But, anythings' possible, I suppose. With hasbro actually selling the spare parts, that's a start in the right direction. However, I'm curious to see how many you get returned with actual pump gas in the tanks.

lmao, now that'd be great. Makes me wish I wasn't leaving.... (I'm leaving because I'm moving out of state)

I also think that if It's a real rc company doing it, I think it's gonna be traxxas or HPI, they're the only other ones I could see putting out a nationwide commercial.

I'm voting that it will be a new R/C beer. I'd be up to take a second trip out there for some freebies. :wasted:

Don’t fool yourself on the amount of money spent for production of a national add. If the production in under a million dollars that’s considered a budget job. The 1K or less that they are paying for the track falls into the realm of doughnut money for the crew. Just the rental of 1 camera and I’m sure they will have 2 or more is around 800.00 per hour not including the cameraman.

A national add will cost a minimum of a million PER NETWORK for any kind of market penetration. If it’s truly a national add being filmed its got to be a large company going after the X-Mass crowd. I would be hard pressed to think that any of the RC only companies would make this kind of bold attempt into the main street market with 500.00 toys.

On the other hand if it’s a local or regional add it’s an entire different ball game.

Keep us posted and take some pics of the production.

You are exactly right Eddy. Just got word on who/what was going to be filmed. It appears that the commercial will be for Radio Shack, and their new line of r/c cars that will be out for Christmas. I'll post more info as I get it. If you have never seen it done before you'll be amazed at how it takes all day to film 1 or 2, 30 second commercials. Well, so much for the good freebies.

Radio shack eh? Make sure you drag that track over for broken parts before anyone else runs on it. :hehe:

I wonder if they are going to fly in the Radio Shack “Factory Team Drivers” for the event. :D

Actually...I was watching wind tunnel the other night on speed channel, and they had a special on the ROAR Off-road nats and they were interviewing 'Jammin' Jay Halsely and some other guy from jammin, and they were saying that when companies like radio shack do commercials for their toy rc's, pro rc drivers like Jay are hired to come out and drive the cars for the commercials.
Kinda overkill IMO, but o well...
