When you purchased a bearing replacement / upgrade kit, were all the bearings included, or did the kit come with the "Standard" bearings and not the additional upgrade bearings such as steering rack or brake cam bearings?

When I purchased a bearing kit for my RC10GT it did come with bearings to replace any current bearings along with bearings to replace any bushings. I'm assuming that is what you are asking? I'm acutally passively hunting for a complete bearng kit for the 2.5 Revo as some are beginning to show signs of wear.

The last time I purchased a "complete" bearing kit was for the Savage. I paid $50 for a Racers Edge rubber shielded set from Hobbytown. It did not come with the steering rack bearings or clutch bell bearings. It did come with more "standard" size wheel hub and diff case bearings than were necessary.

I don't buy bearing kits anymore, I just buy the sizes I need and stock up on the ones I wear out the most such as clutch bell bearings.

Most kits I've seen usually don't come with steering or brake cam. I've been doing the same thing SD has been doing and just buying the ones more common to fail especially clutch bell.

Hi guys,

Some companies offer complete sets and I don't think the steering, cantilivers, belt tensioner ball bearings should be replaced until they are dead. The fastest wear should happen on the drivetrain or you just buy ball bearings as an upgrade.

I offer ball bearing sets for drive train only. This is what I sell on Ebay. For kits that come with partial ball bearings such as Tamiya, my set will only replace the rest of the bushings, but also available as full drivetrain sets of course.

If it is stated clearly what ball bearings are included, I don't see a problem in the product as you know what you will be getting.

Thx

Ill strongly disagree with this.

Why should someone let a bearing go out before replacing it?

If a drive belt tension bearing goes out it will cause more damage and cost more then replacing the bearing as routine maintenance. If a steering rack freezes up or starts hanging due to a bad bearing, God knows how much that will cost as you take out a curb or a telephone pole.

I have been known to be anal about routine maintenance but that’s just me.

Wow, I'm with Eddy on this one. I replace clutchbell bearings about every gallon just to play it safe. I give everything a tear down mid-season and go through the bearings as well, if they are questionable, in go new ones.

Hi,

Sometimes, it gets hard to judge when parts are "going to be out of service". Of course it is a good idea to replace and keep things fresh. But not much people would do that nor willing to spend that much. Being an R/C racer, I strongly agree to what you said. But in business, we would like to focus more on the majority. Different point of views. I love to listen to consumers.

For clutch bell ball bearings, I use ceramic hybrid ones with metal shields. They last pretty long if you treat them good. I will clean them every race day and lube with automobile engine oil.

Thx
