Ok so I've been digging through as many old posts as I can find and there are tons of replies stating that Baking or Boiling the tires are the best way to get glued tires off rims.

I tried boiling my hpi 2.2 rims with proline dirt hawg II tires for about 5 min at a full boil that have gone bald from running on asphalt tooooooo much and all they did was get wet.

I think I ruined the foam (not that I care) but the glue is still not letting go. I only tacked 4 points of contact on both the inner and outter edges where the tire bead meets the rim with standard CA glue from lhs.

Basically what I'm asking is...Just how do I go about boiling/baking them. Are the tires just supposed to pop off? Is it meant just to loosen up (melt) the glue? Was i supposed to leave them in longer? I was nervous about ruining the rims... if I dont HAVE to buy new rims I dont want to. $30 saved on rims for an old car is $30 more towards hop ups on the buggy I just bought.

i tried boiling them and it didnt work very well cause i put alot of glue on them.
i ended up just buying new rims for $20. you can get news rims for even less than $20 if you look long enough.
if you say the tires are shot and bald you can just cut them off.then just prep the area with some fine sand paper to remove the old glue.

God I love your sig.... lol

Anyway, yeah looks like imma hafta cut em off. I dont like throwing anything away but oh well...

Thanks

I get RPM rims for my associated 2.2 for 7 bucks for the rears and 6 bucks for the fronts, maybe I'm lucky :D

Boiling works for me. I but them in for like 2 min take it out and just pull or push the tire tell it pops off. Or I grap a razor/exacto knife and cut around the tire right buy the rim. it saves the tire. I only wasted one pair of tires trying to boil them and i've boiled about 6 pairs now.

:stupid:

I use Losi wheels for my RC10GT and I think they are like 8 bucks a pair for the rear and like 7 for the front.
