SO I HAVE MY JUNK PILE....:p:....TORE DOWN TO THE BARE CHASSIS....I'm WANTING TO REFINISH IT TO MAKE IT LOOK A LITTLE BETTER....I KNOW PAINT WONT STAY ON IT....MY QUESTION IS HOW HARD IS IT TO ANNODIZE ALUMINUM? I KNOW I WILL HAVE SOME SANDING TO DO ON THE ROUGH AREAS, BUT NOTHING REAL MAJOR......OR WOULD THERE BE SOME OTHER WAY TO ADD SOME COLOR TO IT THAT WILL STAY ON?

Definitely first your gonna have to sand it down to the bare metal. But before you waste your time doing that go to a local powder coating shop if you have one, and see if they can sand blast the chassis for you. It'll take them maybe 5 minutes to do it. Also, anodizing is NOT something you should be doing from your house. I have researched it before and there are too many chemicals involved to do it, I would personally find a local shop or someone online that does it. It would be much less hazardous and the product would most likely come out better. Powder coating is another option though instead of anodizing.

Also, your caps lock button is on, your allowed to turn it off :)

lol sorry about the Caps......i dont have a local powder coating shop....my chassis is plain aluminum now so i will just sand it down and leave it the "brushed" look, I'm not going to spend money that i dont have to, and since i plan on running the Balls off this car when i am done with it it would be a waste so ill just sand it and smooth it up and leave it at that. Thanks Nitro!!

it doesn't really matter....it will give me something to do until i get funds to order my parts....lol, I'm chomping at the bits to do something with this car.

i have the rear dif apart now cleaning and making sure all the bearings and gears have no wear......i have some 3000 wt diff oil, is that too heavy to put in the dif? I have the grease ordered for the gears but i dont want to put the wrong wt silicone in the dif if i have to order some 1000 wt i can wait to put it back together.

I used the 1000 wt that came in the box with the SS kit. I can't see 3000 hurting a basher. I would like heavier in mine... but really don't want to take it apart to put it in. lol

lol ok,I'm new to these baja's and dont wanna mess things up.....i can fill thru the bleeder screw right? and just fill all the way to the top?

No.

The hole is used to insert the pin only and is not a bleeder hole. The only way to fill the diff is pull it apart and fill it so the fluid just covers the cross pins.

thats what i done, i filled it up after i cleaned everything .

Would have been a waste of time to polish, it would have beat up anyway.
