the honest truth form myself i know my rs4 probably only hit like 35 stock. I'm not too sure about now but i know i enjoy driving it and i know my street bettar and can eat any one of the other guys around my way that try to do a from light post to post race.
 
Exactly what kwong said ... perceived speed and actual speed are very distant in numbers. It can fool ya, no doubt about it.

Yep, and I was one of those people for quite sometime. I was convinced my nitro tc3 with a 12 cv-r and best top end gears could do at least 70mph.

On a side note, I think This auction is funny. Whoever buys that car is gonna SERIOUSLY get ripped off. I smell bullshit all over it.
 
that auction is dum.if that 4tech will reach those speeds with just a new carb and gears i bet some of the people on heres cars break the speed of light lol. ok enough hijaking a year old thread lol unless this guy comes up with some serious proof.
 
hi. everyone i left for afew days. went on vacation. i have a friend who is a cop and can be clocked by him to prove my speed no guess work. i need to get my clutch bell done again because i busted my last one. plus it not good weather here now and i won,t tear my car up i have alot of bucks in it now. but when spring rolls around or when i get a good stretch of good weather i'll get it out and get video for all of you. so you can say you seen a cen ct4 hit 109. and the bullshit talk is left for all your tc3 i have a tc3 also and my big block cen smokes it so bad it is like my small block camero up against a blown big block and my tc3 has a .15 fantom on it and geared nicely by the hobby shop. but i do my own thing now. 55 to 60 is second gear for me on my cen. and thats no bullshit. soon i'll have proof for you all. and thanks for the supper charger info i'll look in to it more before buying it.

yes i would still ove to see this one. please we weren't denying that you couldnt hit some what speeds in your car we were saying we would like to see that it did because theres alot of pople who come here saying that and never have proof.
 
where do you drive something that fast, i would imageing it is hard to keep eye on something going 109mph

Can you tell me your gearing? Clutch Bell, spur? And for the the drivetrain ratios, larger pulley and the smaller pulley? What's the diameter of your tires?

Also, what kind of springs and shock weight do you have? What body are you using?

hi all i ran my car in a parking lot here it was just paved smooooooooth black top and alot of tirer on it that's how it stuck so good and it is adout 1.5 block long and wide here longer probley i'm guessing it's size for sure larger it.s a malls lot. any how the clutch bell is 14 and 16 tooth and the tranny is 38t second. i run a 300m body at first i tried the lamb. body not very good it had no down draft it keep lifting. but the 300m is a very well the best body i found so fare i used a nissian body once but the 300m is better i think. the tires are 28mm my friend made them out of foam. the company he works at makes the foam for wieght benches and so much more and this stuff is supper sticky an doesn't last at all. the shockes are stock only i use 70 wieght oil to help with the 7 once of lead i use up front and 10 onces in back to help the lift out it helps i got this ideal from my poshe 911 i used lead in the front bummper to give the car traction. there is afilm i use for the chasey to keep air forgetting in it there is some holes but a few the body has no holes but i use to fans to keep the motor cool as i run 40% nitro in it. it runs 290 i usually shut it down. i run shoe goo. in the rear diff. for possive traction on take off the front end is ball bearing so i'm stuck with it spinning out some times more than others at these speeds. i use a pair of head binoculors to keep up the car vision took alot of runs to learn this the depth is way off until you learn the use of them. but after you get us to them the vision is awsome. also my tires are 26mm wide. is there any other body that is great for thes speeds love to here if there is. also i used the springs from stock it takes alot of getting used to driving a fasr car my 83 camero is tricked out and my 69 mustange is nice for speed but driving a real car is not like the thrill of a r/c car running 109.
i hope i helped you out some later i'll get the video but it might be next spring so please be patient o.k. to much time and money to tear up to just prove a point in bad weather

Okay, i've calculated your speed, if i'm correct, your diff is 39t, and the pulley smaller pulley right after it is 25T? Can you confirm it?

So your theoretical top speed with a 47,000 RPM engine, your gearing, and 2.5in. diameter tires is 94.3mph. If you're doing 109mph with the gearing and the 2.5in tires, your engine will be doing 54299 RPM.

If you have 2.9 inch diamerter tires, you'll be able to hit your claimed speed. Can you measure the diameter of the tires? I don't need the width.
 
i was told by my friend who done the tires up they were custom done i went by his figures onthe tires they my be 2.9 i'll check i have a pair here. sorry they are 3.01 but they are foam so if that matters any they ripp up so dang quik and this is the speed i hit with foam not rubber. my friend made these they are not store bought. i could be off alittle to they might hit 3.0 but he turns the tires and trued them so i wouldn't have no flat spotts or hights on them and i us a side sticker for the tires side wall they fly off after to runs.

thats not bullshit u are if your smart enough you heard the stock those cars go 60 with one little tweak its easy.

lol, you're an idiot. He isn't geared to 70mph. Not to mention that guy never said poop about what he did to it.

I e-mailed him, and he didn't seem to know what he was talking about at all.
 
sometime i wonder why these people come here to start nonsense for no reason. he brings up a thread to start with people kind of seems like a trouble maker.
 
lol, well I don't really care if he wants to call bullshit on my comments, as long as he can show proof.

Anyhoo, i've done a little research and calculations for the 4-tec with regards to it's gear ratios. That guy who did the auction is completely full of poop. First thing, the car comes stock with the best top end gears made for the car. The guy in the auction said he changed the gear ratios. He'd of had to get custom gears made cuz if he used traxxas ones, he'd be gearing it lower.

Now, with the best top end gears that come with the 4-tec, the final drive is at 4.19. At 70mph, the engine would be turning about 39,500 rpm. Now I don't know about you, but I haven't heard of engines turning that much rpm under load.

Also, the bodies that came with the car, none of them were aerodynamic enough to be stable at speed. I can't remember if he said he used the stock one or that Corvette one. If he used the corvette, he would have spun out before he got to 50mph. No downforce in the back is BAD. And if he used the stock body, he would have had one hell of a time keeping it stable anywhere past 50mph GUARANTEE IT.
 
sorry bout that, but i asked my lhs and he knew the guy and saw the car run and clocked out at 65. on a different day with diferent weather maybe it could go 70?

Don't see how your hobby shop could see the car run since he lives in Illinois and you live in Jersey.

Anyhoo, that car looks stock except for sway bars. If you look at the supposed carb swap, it looks like a Traxxas one. I can't say for sure, but I don't think traxxas makes an upgraded carb for the TRX2.5.

Also, he's still running the stock air filter. I've had one of those things and the filter was so restrictive I couldn't even get my engine running. Now he said he supposedly changed the foam element to a different material, but that ain't gonna get you to 70mph, or even 65mph. I'd like to see how he shaped the filter to fit also.

And if you wanna know how smart this guy is, he said he installed the sway bars cuz it makes the car stable at speed. Sway bars don't make any difference in straight line. It's a handling thing.

With that said, the only hope he'd have to going to the speeds he wanted, is to actually hand port the engine. But that'd take a lot of skill to to do it right, and i'm not sure if you could better the TRX2.5. It's got enough problems, which could be from bad port design.
