Hey guys i just bought my first T-Maxx last night off of craigslist. the thing is rough and dirty but I've almost got it cleaned up. the question i have is the shaft that the spur gear bolts on. with the motor out i can spin that shaft (not the spur gear, the actual shaft) and it spins freely, is it supposed to do that or is there something wrong. when i spin it i can see the drive shafts move a tiny bit but its hardly anything. any help would be greatly appreciated!

If you have the 2.5 version or older then yes that is most likely normal. The Maxx that has reverse had flyweights that would kick it in gear at take off. Once you run it.....if it still does not work then you have a problem

Most guys ditch reverse and put a forward only in it. Makes the trans stronger (less slamming into gear) and makes for a much more smooth take off.

Once you do get it running, it will buck as you apply throttle until you get enough speed to keep it in gear.
