Hi

I have had a couple of bad crashes now and I've only been driving my car 4 a week. The first was the first time I got it going I let my mate have a go. BAD IDEA! He had it for two seconds n crashed it full pelt into a wall!! broke the engine mounts and buckled the spur gear. Not to bad but annoying as i had hardly had a go!:whack:

Then i fixed it yesterday took it out last nite and drove around showing off a bit then lost control n drove it straight under my car which was parked at the time!

The engine started screaming so i pulled it out and i had pretty much broken every thing!! So today i am going to spend preying that the engine is not screwed!

Any way that got me thinking if I've only been driving for a week imagine some of the stories that other people have got, i would like to hear them.

Have you ever lost control, gone out of range and been running up the road like a mad man??

Well heres the place to share your stories.

I have shared a few of mine on another thread, but I will regale you here, as well.

I once bought a Mammoth XTM when I was fairly new to RC from a member here on RCNT who, with a deep knowledge of this MONSTER and it's size, improvised a way to really stiffen up the chassis with aluminum supports. there were several aluminum rods, extending all along the truck to lend support and they did a great job.

If you have ever owned a Mammoth, you know how frigging huge it is, and also how heavy.

Upon recieveing the truck I went out into my apartment complex parking lot (By the way guys, that is the number one absolute most horrible, crappy and otherwise NO NO place to drive one of these things) and decided I was going to drive it around, without, mind you, a failsafe (duh move number 2)

I played for quite a while to get comfortable and then decided to do some speed runs. Eventually, the radio signal failed and there she went WOT of course.

It stayed a pretty true course, but unfortunately that course was right into the side of a pretty tricked out Mazda that was parked some distance away. When they collided, total hell broke loose. Two of the aluminum rods were actually logged INTO the little hard plastic ground effects stuff, my muffler was never found again, two tires completely destroyed, body was ripped to shreds and on top of it all I had to deal with one very pissed off Muslim man who really couldn't understand me when I told him I was going to pay for the damages. All in all, the truck never really got to the dirt again, it is still sitting, operable now, but I am actually pretty intimidated by it's size now.

That was a very very bad day.

Mate that is a story! I feel for you man!LOL

I think you should get it out on the road agen!

well i bought a revo 3.3 in the winter time and soon realized that the pieces are alot more fragile when cold!!!!duh , anybody should know that , i was then driving a few tanks after my break in , it was pretty cold out , and i was going tin big circles , i guess i miss calculated how far i was and hit a cement block at full throttle, it stopped on a dime , i lost the whole front end with nothing to salvage, bent my frame had to pay about 360$ to repair my baby, i had teers coming down my cheek, so now i am extra carefull and never driving in winte again.i learnt my lesson, WINTER + NEWBIE = VERY BAD LOL

yeh init a tip 2 any noobs go very careful when you first drive you car!

They handle very differently specially on a 2wd truck!!lol

first nice day after winter took my jato out warmed it up checked every part just to make sure everything would be perfect. put it in the back window of my car so i could go to the this new constuction site and get some good running in. all excited i took off just before i got there a car pulled out in front of me i locked up the brakes my jato flew from the back window in to the head rest. list of parts Steering Assembly, right a-arm, front bulkhead, and right Turnbuckles. so in tears i went back home. next time i am hitting the fool and catching my jato(lol)

I had just gotten my RS4 2 and took it to a buddie of mines place who's got a nice piece of road to play with.... well I got cocky and tried to drift but didn't realize how close I was to the curb nailed the curb at full tilt in 2nd gear...... luckily it was a rolled curb... but I still ended up doin about 10-15 flips landed on the wheels and didn't move.... Walked over to expect the worse.... I just had a rock in the belt and a cracked body.... Not bad....

WOW, if thats your worst wreck, you are doing really, really well.

Another bad one for me happened just last night. Got a little to cocky with a cheap RC helicopter I picked up from a toy store and sent it right into a ceiling fan on high speed. Surprisingly enough, only one of the blades broke off.

OK here we go ... When I first got my new LOsi XXX-NT It was the hottest thing in the hood.. Took it to a bar/garage and showed it off. When I got it started I put it on the ground and it went! well I had my transciever in reverse so when I gave it the gas it stopped... soooo I hit the brakes - It shot off like a rocket right into a parked car... We all laughed and it was off to the hobby shop to get parts. HHEEEEE HAAAAA HAAAA

Not my worst but today i was doing some WOT runs with my RS4 still had the old .15 FE in it.. and I was on a narrow road and I hit a decent sized rock and it sent me off at an angle.. then my front right tire went into the dirt on the side of the street got stuck and without a top on my little rs4 did about 10 cartwheels and flips on pavement

I broke...

All body mounts
3 whole fins on my heatsink.. bent every other one of em..
Throttle servo and linkage
Cap off my gas tank..
And knocked a screw out that holds the exhaust man. to the engine

Now finally I have an excuse to put in my OS .18! ill put some pictures up when i install it tomorrow or something.

lol.. i just bought mine today and did the same exact thing:OMG: :write: :n00bie:

It always happens when you just get your car out and your ready for a day of racing! U go and crash it!

i mite put a seat belt around my car when I'm driving from now on!lol

Most spectacular wreck was when I let my friend drive my Ofna Nitro OB4. Long story short, forgot to change out the batteries on the receiver and the car ended up loosing the signal and went head on into a curb at probably 40-45mph. Car ended up being totalled.

More recent one was like 2 or 3 years ago when I was going a good 55mph (can't remember what the vsm said) with my ntc3 and I hit a manhole cover and ended up car wheeling the car. Damage was pretty minor.

I don't want to relive this tragic experience in my life.

But here is the Pics.

I am so skurred of this happening. That's why I got a failsafe.

I haven't even gotten my car started yet, but I am sure I will have a story to tell by the end of the week.

When i first got my rc18mt me and my friends were down in the collasack down the street from me and you know how it goes. I get cocky and say the famous last words (WATCH THIS)! Well i missed the ramp and hit the curb it was sitting on. I blew the contents of my brand new reedy motor and broke just about every part in the front end. 60$ later I got everything replaced. Thank god rc18 stuff is easy to come by and cheap!

My story also starts with a "i made the mistake of letting my friend drive it" that is the worst thing to do. To date i have not let anyone drive it except my brother who owns 2 just like me. Anyways it was a rustler my friend started off good then decided to WOT even though i gave him specific instructions not to well he turned right into a curb luckily it was also a tad bit rounded. It flew 4 foot straight up making the loudest noise ever cuz the muffler parted ways with the coupler. To my surprise that was the only thing that happened along with a destroyed front guard. Now here is where it got funny and ultimately sad. I started her up and gave a few laps on the road then started being aggresive on WOT the throttle servo broke in half ( was broken from the curb impact but I didnt notice) so it WOT and I have steering still I'm trying my best to keep her under control it hits the curb at an angle and does a sideways flip in the air and landed back on the wheels (that actually looked awesome) it wheelies and then i turn, it rolls again lands on the wheel then i try one last turn to save it from a fence. The fence was a chainlink and was old and leaned over with warped supports the rustler hit it at an angle and caught the most air i have ever caught with a rc it actually rolled all the way up it and gained another 8-10 foot of air landed on cement and broke everything on the left side....looking back now that was the funniest 40 seconds ever with a RC but I was so pissed at my friend at that time and to make it worse he was laughing big time...so I got revenge a few weeks later and slept with his wife when we were drunk...don't mess with a man's rc, break it, and then laugh....

U slept with his wife!!!

Mate think ill stay on the good side of you!lol

Sorry to be a newb but what does WOT stand for???? I've been trying to work it out but... Also another question, what does the fail safe actually include? i.e what does it attach to how does it work??

Cheers
