I've had my slash for about 18 months. I have limited upgrades (mostly RPM stuff) and still have my titan. I originally purchased a 3600 Trinity battery which worked great for awhile. I've maintained the titan after each use by spraying it with motor spray and 3 in 1 oil. Now I get limited run time and my last run only lasted a couple minutes before my slash stopped. I picked up the back and gave it a little gas with some success. My question is, is my battery on it's last legs or is my titan on it's last legs? I don't have an extra motor or battery to play with to figure out which one is bad.

Any help or suggestions on what I should do would be great. Thanks.

Does your charger tell you how many volts your battery is reading? I am really suprised that you have had you titan motor that long. I can never get them to last more than a few months myself. It is always good to have an extra battery but the Titan's are only $22 to replace if you decided to go that way.

As soon as you plug the battery in on that charger it should tell you how many volts it is reading on the LCD but that unfortunately isn't a guarentee with Nimh as you can charge them up when they are bad and they will read 8+ volts and then as soon as you run your rig your battery is dead. You are going to want a second battery anyway so I would probably buy one charge it up and see if thats the problem. HERE is a great article on battery care from our sister site.

any suggestions on a battery type/size? I'm not ready to upgrade to LIPO yet since it would require a new charger. I've been looking at a 5000 7-cell for around $50. I have a hard enough time getting my wife to let me by replacement parts let alone new equipment. I'm looking to upgrade my motor/esc to the VXL system as soon as I get my quarterly bonus. Thanks for the link, I'll make sure to check it out.

That 7 cell will make it rip and at 5000 mah that should give you good runtime. When you are ready to go brushless definately use the Traxxas power up to save some coin, I have a couple of the Velineon setups and can't be happier. The only Nimh's I have now are Cheapbatterypacks because they distribute to my LHS and they are 20 miles away from me but they also have great batteries for a good price.

thanks for the information. Any other suggestions on brands that would be good for the titan now and a VXL in the future?
