axial nitro engines?

i love axial engines. i have a .28 in my protos. its easily faster than my ofna's. its easy to tune and it holds that tune after sitting for a long while. my macstar.28 in my hyper 7 is not running properly and i plan to replace it with an axial motor.

Axial nitro motors are not good at all. Sometimes you can get lucky and get one that will last a lil while, but for the most part they are made of inferior materials, wont hold a tune, and dont last more than a gallon or so of nitro before crapping out. What rig are you looking to put a new motor into?

I am going to have to back up Alpine on this one. The are great engines for a gallon and a half then become un-tuneable. The power thay make is mild to be polite. I have owned two of them so NO I am not just repeating what others have said. I would put my Picco or LRP up against one ANY day and will pull it backwards, sideways or upside down. IF they lasted longer they would be a good mild engine. However.....they don't. Spend the extra money and get something that will work for you and will last. Just my two cents.

I agree 100% with the last two posts, I have seen many blow up even before a gallon has been run. Cheap piston material causes the skirt to break loose and destroy the engine, weak rods and main bearings that let go due to extremely cheap ball retainers. If the skirt lets go, or the retainer falls apart, it's almost certain the engine will be destroyed. The Picco .28 is the best quality MT engine available for $200, next is the LRP/SH/etc but even they lack the quality of the picco with a billet piston, Swiss bearings, beefy con rod and block construction, and a crank that is made from some of the strongest steel I have seen in nitro engines.
