its the best "bang" for you buck into crawling in the 2.2 world. not gonna be the best performing setup but will be a great start and the aftermarket support in insane.

It is a great rig, it can be great as a starter for some just getting into crawling and can be taken all the way up to a full competion rig for the hard core, therer are many upgrades for it, which one are you looking at? Because Axial offers 4 different modles of the AX10 which are the kit, ARTR, RTR, and RTC.

You talk about bang for your buck and a great starter rig, so what would be a top shelf crawler? I'm interested in the crawlers and thought that the axial rigs were the shiznit but I can see that I might need to do some more research.

build a moa rig (motor on axle) like a berg or bully. i love my berg comp rig and would put it against any rig here lol.

I will run against you any time bud, LOL!!! I'd probably loose but I'd run against you...:D and yeah a moa rig is bad a$$ but you can make some bad a$$ shafty's too..

I have a pretty high-spec Axial rig here I use for occasional comps. I've ploughed too much into it to abandon it and start over with MOA so I just use it for what it'll do. I'm not much of a glory hound anyway. Out-of-the-box the Axial is capable and fun to drive, and pretty well made. Adding a goo motor and ESC, and some good radio gear makes a handy package. I've seen some really amazing comp runs from people running virtually stock Axials. You do have to have 'the knack' as a driver though, some people seem to be naturals at it.

Moving forward, you can build a really good rig with the Axial as a base and the nice thing is you can spend money a little at a time, and add bits as you see fit and see how they effect it. Its a good way to learn crawling from the floor up.

MOA rigs like the Berg are expensive from the get-go but you do get a good return on that investment if you set the rig up right. You can always buy a pair of MOA axles later and build another rig using some of your Axial's parts later down the line.

too build a "bad ass" comped out all the way with good parts Axial or venom or whatever other shafty you want to use its gonna cost you the same amount as it would to build a MOA and have a superior rig from the start. doesn't mean u are gonna be a good driver but the rig will be better.

No doubt, I could have built a decent Berg with what I've spent (and sometimes wish I had!) but with the Axial there's no massive outlay (Berg axles are expensive compared to an Axial) to start off and you can build the rig up a little at a time. As a first rig the Axial is ideal as it gives you 'instant playtime' as soon as you set it up, and also upgradability at a relatively low cost point, hence the 'bang for buck' argument. I really feel I can't justify selling my AX-10 and starting again, as I'm not really a crack driver so I'm never likely to get any advantage from a MOA.

You can really only bounce for a MOA rig of you've got a decent slab of starter cash to get axles, shocks, chassis, motors, wheels & tyres, electrics (which are more specialized) and all the other usual stuff you need to start out. Either that or you don't mind buying a bit of your rig every month and have the bits sat around for a while until you get it all together.

well even though the stock chassis and shocks kinda suck the berg kit is under $300 most places now wich puts it right there in the same catagory as all the rest. sure you need wheels and tires but the tires that come with any of the other rigs suck imo anyways so you would want to replace them but alot of guys are just running the plastic hpi wheels that are like $20 for all four then choose your tires and your good. it takes one more motor than a shafty wich will cost more in the motor department but then the rest to get it running is gonna be the same. then to go dig is gonna be cheaper as you only need two switches and a servo, switches are like $5 at radioshack. and you have a comper. i think the guys who dont have moa's are over thinking it and believing its way to expensive to get started but its just barely gonna cost more than going with a axial, losi, kyoshi (wich is even more), venom or any other main rig out right now. then all you need to do to make it way better, wich you would need to do on a shafty too is get a different chassis setup and maybe some nice shocks.
either way, its fun and always room for improvement on your rig and just cuz you have a bad rig doesn't mean you will be able to outdrive everyone else lol so practice is more important than most of the other stuff.
