Like the title says, How much do you add to your front & rear tires? With Nimh & with Lipo I'm going to be running Nimh's to begin with, but will be switching to Lipo's soon. Also what lipo's give you the most bang for your buck? I will be running the batt's over the front axle.

Thanks for your input, Ron

Nobody want to help a noob??:surrender Is there somewhere I can go to find this info?

give it some time, more people are online in the evening. I'm sure someone will be along to help soon

Got to weigh them. lol. can't bring the crawler to work with me. (tried it, my Sergent didnt like that too much) Ill let you know later this evening.

Thanks Guys, I was just joking around. Bored here at work & thinking about the crawler....WHAT CAN I SAY!!

On my Pro-Line eight shooters, I bought them from a guy that crawls and wins a lot of comps, he's a sponsored crawler. He was running a very smililar 2.2 setup to what I'm running, so I left them how he had them set up and they've done pretty good. I have twelve 1/4 ounce (7 gram) weights on each front wheel, and none in the rear wheels. They are the stick on weights, and I use pro-line memory foam.

However, my new wheels (all aluminum MSD beadlocks) are a lot heavier, so I'm going to add some weight to the front wheels but that's it. I would try the setup like I have, and if you want to put some weights in the back, put either 2 or 4 weights on each back wheel. You always want to have more weight in the front, which helps with vertical climbs and break over ledges and such.

I only run maxamps.com, because I haven't found any other battery supply places that have the level of customer service that maxamps has, and they really know their batteries. If you're looking for nimh, they can build them or you can go with a TCS saddle pack. http://www.tcscrawlers.com/TCS-Craw...corpion-9.6-volt-Deans-Connector-p-16620.html

I definitely reccomend the LiPo from maxamps.com, it's all I run. This is a very helpful site for battery information and mounting options. Jason knows his crawlers pretty good and helps people out a lot. I bought two 2000 mah batteries when I ordered my kit. The ones that I got are about 3 mm too long and just barely interfere with steering with the proline hammers mounted on stock wheels. Most people run narrow wheels so they would probably work fine for that. I'm about to order the 1290 mah lipo battery from maxamps.com as it's the perfect size. They have a 2 week wait, but when I emailed him and told him I had a comp coming up, maxamps said they will start building me a pack out of some cells that just came in and get it to me ASAP. That's the reason I only run maxamps. After every order I place, I get a hand written thank you card and some free decals. I prefer to buy from companies who act like they care about their customers.

if i am remembering right, i have added roughly 11oz of lead to each front wheel, and appx 6oz to each rear. but i will double check when i get home.

Thanks for the info guys. I will be getting my AX-10 his weekend & wanted to get a basic starting point. I will be running some GP 3300 nimh's until I can order some Lipo's, Just didn't want to be wasting money on batts I can't use. What amp rating should I be looking for in the Lipos?
On the tires I was going to start with the stock wheels & the Losi Claws, Should I be narrowing the wheels? If so how much?

Thanks again for all the help. I'm trying to get a group together here.I run the off-road track here & I am going to build a crawler course & run weekly meets. So I'm trying to educate myself,So I can help here as much as possible. So I may drive you all nuts with all the noob ?'s. Hope not to be a pest.

If interested you can check out the track on my website here. I will be posting info on the meets as well as pics on the website also.

Glad to here you're getting other people in the community together to do some crawling. I found a huge group of serious comp guys from my area and I will be attending my first comp along with another member from here in a few weeks.

Fo Sho. Dont worry about the questions. that is what the forum is all about. If we didnt care to ask/answer em, we wouldnt look on the site.

You don't need to narrow the stock wheels. Once you get more serious into it, and start cutting and shutting your tires you may want to narrow the wheels, but if you're not competing you'll be just fine. I would STRONGLY advise that you take that stick pack, and seperate it into a saddle pack, or order your LiPo before you try to run your axial. It would be free with the exceptions of some battery bars to re solder the 6 cell pack, and it will take that axial from a 2 on the 1-10 crawler scale to a 7. I'm talking about A LOT of difference.

The rock claws are good tires, I think I will be running them at the comp.

These are my hand built race packs, I've already split them into two 1 over 2 configuration to go over the front axle on bolth sides of the servo. It didn't make much sense mounting it in the highest spot on the chassis.?????

Should I install lockers in both axles?

Well that's a big and heavy battery, and you don't want the weight over the rear axle. You can get the 2000 mah battery or 1750 to fit over the front axle, which is where you need the weight.

I'm getting about 2 hours out of a 2000 mah battery, so I'm going to step down to a 1290 because it fits a lot better and it will have plenty of run time.

yeap that's it.

With my stock wheels and the shrink wrap and wires on the pack, the 2000 mah packs that I got were just about 2 or 3 mm to long. This is A LOT smaller pack, about 20 mm shorter in length. I'm going to be able to use the 2000 packs when I run my aluminum beadlocks because they're offset just a lil wider than the axials, leaving plenty of room for the battery. I'm going to use the 1290 when I'm using my standard offset wheels for the comps.

Yes Defnitely. You HAVE to run lockers in a crawler. The RTR comes with a locker but it's not installed. They did this to try and make the truck more appealing to people who were using them more for all terrain racer style instead of it being strictly for crawling. They also put a different gearing setup and a 27 turn motor, which is why they call it a rock racer. For crawling, you want both ends locked, with a 45 to 65 turn motor. I use heavy duty bevel gears and heavy duty sintered lockers in my axles, because I didn't want to have to tear the axles back down later. But for normal recreational crawling you will probably be fine with the stock lockers. Here's what I'm running in my axle.

You will need two of these

and one package of these

I still don't understand, why sell the lockers in pairs and the gears seperate. I assumed they were the same, and then I had an extra pair of lockers. Of course I gave them away and then bought another ax-10 a few weeks after I gave em away. But that's how it is, if I would have held on to them they would have sat on the shelf for years.

I'm getting the Kit & an Integy 55t motor. I'm going to go Brushless soon tho.
