Since I've never been to an RC race, I was wondering what the maximum distance that you'd be from your car, as far as signal and view is concerned.
I've seen several videos , but it's tough to judge distance in a vid.
Thanks

The going theory is up to 1000 feet away, but at that distance, you'll loose sight of the car. It really depends on the electrical noise, frequency band (27 or 75mhz) as well as modulation (AM, FM, or Spektrum, in order from worst to best).

Best off saying no more than about 250 feet away.

Hey Jeep, I've been to two tracks. One large and the other small, and both stands were no further away than 100ft. from the furthest parts of the track. Any radio system can handle that, even my AM transmitter. Most guys out there are running spektrum systems anyhow, which are 2.4mHz, and have a greater signal clarity and range.

The two tracks I've been to are about 12-15 parking spaces wide by maybe 15-20 parking spaces long. The drivers stands were 5 feet off the ground. So, next time your in a big parking lot, stand facing the cars and imagine a track 10 spaces to the right, left, and in front of you. Even though it a rather large area, your elevated and in the middle so its not so bad at all.

Here's a link to one of the tracks I go to on a regular basis:

There's some pics of the track and drivers stand there. From the postion on the drivers stand to the track your probably at most 100 feet. The stand is about 12 feet high. The other track I go to, the stand is probably about 10 ft and last years config was a little short with total track width only being about 90 feet. Thankfully he's expanding this year!
