And a question....this does not have any type of gyro, independent or on the rx. In this photo here, the back end is loose on a hard left turn, and I am already counter steering as the gyro would do if it had one.

While I don't intend to run 1 on this either way, I am curious if there is an advantage that would be had?

If you are someone who hates fun, the advantage would be the gyro sucking all the fun out of it!

Having only ever driven a drift car with a gyro, I could see a benefit in being able to focus more attention on turning left and yanking the trigger. Allowing the electronics to counter steer for you takes out that element of necessary control needed to go fast on dirt. Not fun IMO.

No experience with them, but I wonder if they "take over" the throttle, as well as the steering?...

OT, I thought "as well as" should be set off by commas on both ends but spellcheck says otherwise?...

I think they only affect steering.

Gyros have steering in and steering out plugs. None for esc that I ever saw.

I also vote that gyros are tiny gizmos sucking the soul out of RC.

Most tracks won't let you run one unless you're drifting.

All the taking the person out of the equation is getting wierd at this point. Start with a gyro so you arent involved as much with steering, add in some foc so you have half the job with the throttle....maybe add voice commands if you need some extra distance between you and the experience.


I know there are a few Californians on here, is this coming out of the west??.....are we trying to distance people from the batteries in the radio?...because health?

I'm fine with it, as long as I can turn it "off". I did read an article/story a couple weeks ago about someone that rented a new model 1/1 car that "watches" (and verbally "chastises") you if you take your eyes off of the road ahead of you for too long (for example).

Yeah, thats it tho. I am aware of computers and ai that could likely drive circles around me. I'd still like to give driving a shot tho. Just me and my digimatical NB4+ radio.
It also has 'cheating' like abs, throttle curves, channel mixing, turbo... More stuff than I ever will know what to do with it all! lol!

It does depend on where you draw the line.

I do think gyros are another step towards fully automated rc. (We are slowly being replaced even in RC!)
Ppl don't learn unless they make mistakes. Gryos prevent mistakes. Good and bad I guess.

That said, I have only actually raced with my old Futaba Magnum jr from 35 years ago and a bunch of twin sticks.
I am very much looking forward to driving my brushed Optima with my old xtal radio, Novak esc and 1/4oz servo. Lol!

I have dumbo rx with gyro built in on some rigs, and have always turned them off. I also have an independent gyro on the drift car I have never used. ...but might sometime soon ....maybe...
The modern tech i have really enjoyed is like the skyrc speed tracker.

I was looking into those SkyRC stand alone units so I could do some speed runs. I blew up the 'fast' car and I didn't pursue speed run cars.

I never bought the SkyRC piece.

Now with the brushless Gorgon I just built, my curiosity has got the better of me.
I am thinking about buying the GPS unit again.
The truck is really fast. I'd like to know exactly how fast.

It seems to be pretty helpful for testing upgrades and set up too.

Well....if you get the GPS tracker, I think its great. If you dont, you could always go to the local high-school for the running track, use the free lap tracker for your phone camera and commit to a math problem like yer still one of the students there.
