are these the same as UE shocks?

Its been said that they are. I am not sure myself. I have a set that I got and am getting a shock rebuild kit for them.

so are they better than the traxxas big bores. i can get a set of big bores brand new for $50 shipped. how comparable are the 9.5 to the traxxas big bores?

I have the ofna ones from the link.. They are nice but not as nice as the big bores.. If you dont snag the bigbores for $50 LMK where that is, cuz thats one heck of a deal..!

strictly opinion based. I had a set of big bores BRIEFLY and never got to really test and compare. Now my UE ones are the shiznet IMO. With the right spring/oil set up for your terrain and driving style it is badass. try one and let us know. i have heard great things about the traxxas ones on Tmaxx's but thats it.

i geuss i'll grab the big bores since the 9.5's are gone. if i dont like than i can sell close to what i paid for them. i raced the stock shocks last week and they handle jumps goood as ever. even the big jumps where others were bottoming out. the stockers were smooth. i have the nova towers and want to lower the ride some. it never flipped over and i had it full throttle coming into the straight away and out of it. now for a 3 speed and 23mm hex w/ bowties.

the lhs built a dirt oval track w/ a off road track in the center w/ plenty more room for a bigger track. and it's open anytime anyone wishes to play on it. so nice of them.

Yeah, those shocks in the link are the same. Those black springs are stiff as hell, and work good in the back of a heavy maxx.... I love my UE shocks, definitely better than the big bores. The UE shocks have threaded bodies and the overall design is much, much tougher than any big bore shock i have ever seen. The piston is not e-clipped onto the shaft, it is bolted. The shafts, shock ends, and bodies are so much more heavy duty than the big bores it isnt even funny. I totally agree with Jon when he says the UE shocks are the "shiznet", because they are!

I don't think they are the same. In fact, I'm pretty sure they aren't.

The SuperMaxx shock shafts the UE used to offer are shorter than 9.5 rear and longer than 9.5 fronts.

9.5 fronts are 56.5mm
9.5 rears are 64.5mm

UE's are about 60mm. I use the 9.5 fronts as replacements though since they are easier to come by.

Actually, on a maxx, the 9.5 fronts may work better than the UE ones anyway as the UE ones were a little bit longer than the stock length t-maxx shocks.

As for durability, I'm not sure if they are better than Traxxas Big bores, but they are built better. Like 21Rc10GT said, they use locknuts to keep the pistons on.

I know I like mine. I really liked them on my maxx and I like them on my savage. I just put two of the ones I had on my maxx on my HB buggy as I bent a HB shock shaft last weekend. They feel smoother than the HB ones (at least smoother than the non-bent one).

BTW, I've only been running 4 on my savage for the past year. I've broken one internal disk and bent two shafts in a years worth of bashings. I've burned up about 9 gallons of fuel in the savage over the course of the year.

Very detailed info olds... I got a lot out of it..

I feel better after reading you get a lot of time with the 4 shocks on the savege.. Its quite heavyer than a buggy, but if they're holding up thats a good sign..

Olds really romps on those shocks and they seem to hold up very well. I've seen this Cat do some serious stuff on them. :)
