I wanna get an I Pod really bad but the lowest i see them for is $250 and the new skinnier one for $100 which i may get. but are there any cheaper ipods that are the original one or is the skinny one ok. I'm not planning to use to for a crap load of music like the ones for $350 that holds like 5,000 songs.

I would have a couple of questions for you. One would be what is your price range

Two are you dead set getting an Ipod. There are alot of other music players out there now.

Number 3 the new Ipod uses flash memory which is great if you are working out at the gym or running. The others are hard disk based.

i wanted to stay around $100.I'm not dead set o an ipod but more the less i want something that can easilly fit into one of my pockets.. i do alot of walking throughout the time that i plan on listening to it.and while i have to ride my bike places and stuff so something nice and compact like and ipod would be nice.

Sly its weird whenever i have a question about electronics you answer it!! LOL.

The only thing that is a little weird about the Ipod shuffle is the fact that if does not have a display. But for $99 the 512mb version is not too bad. You might want to do some internet searches on MP3's player in your price range. But you will certainly be styling hard core with those white headphones poping out of your ears.

styling?? you mean stylin lol also can i put mp3's other than itunes on the ipod?

na na chill i need bass!! no bass boost are they crazy!!

I've gone the other way with CD/data Cd based MP3 players. In my experince they have better features, are more adaptable, and have a better display.

Since they dont have to put all that money into a mechanical hard drive, they can put it into the display.

One CD will hold 700+ MB of Music, that's a ton. skips are non exsistant and they're fast to acces.. they also play regualr CD's.

If that's too big for you and you are set on a small one look into the mini disc type, or a flash type.

Make sure that you can also upgrade the flash memory. If the $100 is 512 MB that's a ton of room but with no display how you gonna find your songs?

Ipods have a heck of a name, but in My Very humble opinion the names what makes 'em so spendy, not the features...

I also like USB connectivity or the ability to burn my own disks.

I wasn't an ipod fan either but I got mine as a surprise birthday gift. I primarily use it in my car with a direct input into my Blaupunkt deck. Sound quality is ok, depends on the bitrate you rip your music with. I use 192kbps and with all the other noises in the car it sounds about 90% CD quality. I don't use it for critical listening though, that's what my home system is for. Yes the ipod is expensive and so are all of it's accesories. You can burn your own CDs with itunes and it is USB connectable but with an optional $20 cable.

If you are looking for bang for the buck, I personally wouldn't buy an ipod. There are too many new mp3 players out now with just as much storage capability as the ipod at a better price.

I think you may have misunderstood my burning comment.. I meant that I can burn my own disks rather than screw with the connecting it to the PC with disk based MP3 players you just pop in any old CD..

I got hooked on them with my pioneer in car MP3 player. With the memory in them now they will buffer two songs so it won't skip, ever. If that's too big for you I would go with a mini-disk MP3 player you can burn Mini discs with your standard PC burner ad still hold a ton of songs..

Actually if you go with a flash memory type MP3 player your digital camera memory might be compatible

I'd be down with a flash based player if it would plug into my car deck VIA USB heheh...

What we really need is a Ican (do everything).

Combine cell phone, Ipod, instant messaging and web browsing, with a hard drive to store movies and games, 802.11b for fast Internet anywhere you go and bluetooth so you could game with anyone near, or use keyboard/mouse/monitor and not have too hook up cords heheh.

I had this $100 mp3 cd player once and the sound was WAY WAY too low for my liking. I like to blast the volume so loud cuz it makes me feel like I'm there.... kinda lol.but... i guess with the new technology, they make them better now then 3 years ago. I had a Rio somethin... i forgot what it was called but it was funny lookin. i was gonna get an Ipod last week. My parents were gonna loan me $40 cuz i couldn't get anything off ebay. But i decided to get a sweet skateboard instead.

Ill stick with my CD player for now. O and that new skinny ipod thing sounds stupid IMO. Its all random so if u have alot of songs and you are looking for a perticular song, it would make someone very aggrivated. :2cents:
