Hey guys,

Me I again.... I know I know you have to be tired of me asking a million questions but you guys are such a wonderful wealth of knowledge! I have a TMaxx with the 2.5 and I am just getting ready to put RPM A arms all around with Ti pins. I like the way the truck looks with 40 series rubber. Is it ok to race with the 40 series, or am I doing damage to the truck? Thanks

Tom

If you are going to race, the 40 series bowties are perfect. They are way lighter than the stock t-maxx tires, and they bite a lot better on the track. If you are going to bash, they are also a good choice, but not for big jumps because of the lower profile.

i heard something about that in order to run the 40 series tires and rims u need to upgrade your drivetrain to steel. IS THIS TRUE?

I dont think so. I have never heard of that. And, since the stock tires are heavier, the 40 series would do less damage.

Running the 40 series tires puts a lot of stress on the axle bearings. You would be best served if you got the RPM carriers that have larger bearings.

I went through axle bearings often running any tires on my maxx, but I never upgraded. A friend of mine runs 40 series somethings on his maxx with the RPM carriers/bearings and it has held up really well.

RPM arms and knuckles are a must on that beast......I never understood why people want to make an MT drive like a buggy???? I think the 40 series wheels take away that whole MONSTER TRUCK feel .......I have a set of road rage 40s and that's it......I run reg bowties at the track and mashers for bashing......

I love to just bash my Maxx as much as anybody, and I have a set of just regular old MT tires for the purpose. The only reason I put 40s on in the first place was because I thought it made the truck look good. IMO Then I found that when I race the Maxx ( which is not much, I have an XTerm Pro for racing) the 40s just made the truck handle a bit better. I am looking to get a set of losi blues and 50wt shock oil to help stiffen the ride a bit for bashing. I keep bottoming out after a jump. Any suggestions as to what might help the ride? I have a set of RPM Arms upper and lower all around on order as well as Ti pins. I am running the Traxxas big bore shocks as well. I will look into gettig the RPM knuckles as well. Thanks for the tips guys.

what you might want to try untill you get the upgrades, is add some thick spacer on your shocks that will help stiffen up the springs to avoid bottoming out. I like to put the biggest spacers of the back so i can do wheelies. :w00t: ask any scientist and he will tell you why. oh and bring earplugs :sheep:

You actually need ear plugs?

Well I know what ear plugs are for, I was just curious as to why I would need them. My maxx is not that loud!

Some people are overly cautious. My GF's dad wears ear protection to sweep the carpet????????????????????

To each his own I guess!
