I've been thinking of switching to Voice over Internet and was wondering what any of you that have it think of it? One thing that concerns me is the 911 capabilites. 911 is one of those things you hopefully never ever have to use but when you need it it's there and VoIP doesn't have it down yet (enhanced 911 that is). I've used a service called Skype when I've been overseas and it seems to work well but it's like a VoIP calling card, you pay like 10 Euros and then calls are like $.05/min from UK or France to the US. Usually don't worry much about it since we have 3 int'l phones per aircraft for crew. Anyway, just thought I'd get some opinions on it from the experts (I'm using that term loosely).

And if you have it and are happy with it would you post who you are using. Thanks

i forget the name but my wifes using speednet wireless internet and she has a voip service from them as well .....there was only one hicup during a busy time of day i was talking to her & she was also streaming a lot of music on the internet & i could here her voice cut out like we had a bad connection she paused the streaming and all was fine...

havent noticed anouther glitch since ....were gonna get it in our house as well when its finnished ...your correct 911 service has its linitations but i think they will get that worked out

Only thing that stops me is the "what if's" I lose connection or have band width issues with my ISP sometimes (Time warner cable). What am I going to do after that? I can't call them up since there's no signal!
