I have an upcoming MT410 2.0 build and I'm trying to think of what wheel/tire combo I want to use. Right now it is between the Proline Bonesaw 2.8 or Badlands and the Jconcepts Midwest 2.2MT wheel with either the Renegade Jr. or Ranger Jr. tires.

My concerns with Pro-Line: I don't care for the look of the Raid wheel that seems to come on every offering they have these days. I've heard that the hexes don't hold up and the aluminum hexes are $40 per set, with is just ridiculous.

I plan on running on 3s but may run 4s. Anyone try out the Bonesaw 2.8's? They look like an interesting design. If you have used the other options I listed, please let me know which rig you put them on and how they performed. Thank you!

From my experience-the JConcepts wheels and rubber far outlast anything from Proline.. They began going down hill imo when Horizon Hobbies took over.. They love to break in the hex boss..🙄🤷🏻‍♂️
That's what I thought. I don't like how every one of their offerings are on the same wheels.

Oh boy... to go with the renegade Jr. or the ranger jr.. these decisions are tough! The theme is going to be monster truggy with possibly a Camaro body and wing.

Is this purchase for looks, or did you want traction, and have it be driveable/responsive?

You mentioned “monster truggy”… Likely the most capable tire you could run on an MT410 2.0 would have to be the Dboots Backflip 4s..

Just food for thought.. Their performance is just about unrivaled imho, AND they look good, will last a while, and they’re a super durable setup.. Would also keep you from having to run silly plastic hex adapters..

I had the LP Backflips on my MT410 and loved the performance. I thought about them for the 2.0, but I feel like they may be a bit too tall for what I want since they are 6". If I got them, I would pair them with the M2C 17mm hubs.

I have a set of 2.8 wheels on mine with chineesium tires that are 5.1" tall x 2.8" wide. They are about the right proprotions for my tastes. I'm still using the OEM 12mm hexes, no issues with them at all.

I've heard many have had issues with the removable hubs on the Raid wheels too. I have a set of them with the Mirage TT's for the Mojave. They've been great for me. I think the real issue is the extended plastic hubs that also come with the Raid wheels. I never used those, just the zero offset hubs. I'm running the Mirage TT's on a Kraton with 6s no problems.
If you decide on the Raid wheels and need the extended hubs, maybe try these below. Much cheaper than PL's adapters.

Also Amain has their house brand 2.8 offerings now, no experience with them myself.
Also, while I'll never "recommend " TRX branded tires, I have enjoyed multiple sets of their Sledgehammer 2.8 over the years. Pretty cheap from kit breakers..

My current setup on my sct410.3 is 1/8 buggy tires w/17mm +10mm adapters from amazon. If you want the links to what I used let me know. Could easily be used with 17mm truck wheels/tires.

I'm pretty convinced the Duratrax are made by PL/HH nowadays. AKA too. All owned by HH, advertised as made in USA. Even the new DTX wheels look nearly identical to th PL Raids. Not necessarily a bad thing.

The duratrax warthogs did not work out. The hubs are defective and crack/split when putting the screws in. Amain sent me a replacement with the same defect. I found the bonesaw on clearance at horizon hobby for $15 a set. For $31 for a complete set of 4...

Turns out DuraTrax and Proline use the same exact hubs. Three sets of wheels/tires all with the same defective hubs.View attachment 208697
That stinks!
We need more actual manufacturers and less "repackaging" in this hobby!
Its no good when everybody is selling the same defective parts!!!

I emailed horizon hobby and explained that this is the 3rd set of "horizon hobby" wheels/tires with bad hubs. There response was "ok, we are sending you another set of pro-line bonesaw 2.8s".

At this rate, I am contemplating just getting the aluminum 6x30 to 12mm hubs. You know, since I will have 4 sets of wheels/tires with no hubs.

It would be better if Proline or HH sent you the aluminum hub at this point!
3rd time is the charm!
Good luck!

4 is more???
I'm trying over here... 🤣

That really stinks! Proline was THE tire manufacturer for so long!
Its a shame to see this happen!
I got the DuraTrax six pack X belted tires for my Xmaxx a few years ago and they were fantastic. It seems like the quality went way down after horizon bought them. Puts a bad taste in my mouth for Horizon Hobbies.
