I found a guy that mods a lot of TQ3 radios for his friends and guys on the forums. I'm working with him to try and buy some for you guys and get them at a decent price. If I can get a count of how many people will be interested in buying them, I can work out a price on them and try to get it as low as possible. It will be a few weeks by the time we get the radios and he mods them and sends them out. How many people would be interested in buying a modded TQ3 system if I could get it for around $40 shipped?

It's a traxxas TQ3 radio system (transmitter, receiver, crystals) that has been modded with a three position 3rd chanel to operate a rear dig setup.

Rear wheel lock out, free wheel, and 4wd for crawlers. Enables tighter turns, and higher climbs with crawlers. The TQ3 is the stock traxxas radio system with a 3 position switch.

I fist learned of the idea in the rock crawling special of RC Car Action I believe it was. They had a how to article. Then I found tons of articles on the internet on how to do it. It's looking like I'm going to be able to get these for around $30.

Charlie, all the modded TQ3s I have seen were modded to use for rear steering on the TQ3, rather than dig. I have not seen them set up to use for dig, unless this is something new they are doing with the modded TQ3s.

I dont see why you would need to mod the radio to use the third channel for dig? All you should need is another servo on the truck to operate the linkage to the dig set up, and since the TQ3 was already set up to switch the reverse servo on a Maxx no mod should be necessary. Actually any 3 channel radio should work for dig.

The ones that I have seen a momentary switch is used to replace the stock two position switch. When activated it allows the rear wheels to steer, when not depressed the rear wheels are centered.

NCNitro, for the dig, you need to be able to select 2WD with rear freewheel, 2WD with rear locked (dig), or 4WD, so you have to have a 3 position switch that is non self centering. I've seen some of the radios like your talking about, where you can turn the switch on and off, and choose full steer right or left. This is similar, but it's a 3 position switch instead of two position switch.
