as the title says.

does anyone?

my grandfather does and my father use to and its rubbing off on me to be a owner-op and take the wheel of my grandfathers truck when he stops driving

thoughts, opinions???

I've wanted to get my CDL but never have yet. Lots of job oppurtinity's if you can drive doubles and triples. I've driven several but never for a company or anything, just farmers part time. Id say go for it. Depending on what job you do with it, you can make bank...or you can make very little lol.

I work at a tractor/trailer shop. If you get the right job, and your keep up on your maintenance, you can bankroll an early retirement. If you can't get the right jobs lined up, you could die an old man behind the wheel. I know too many drivers who are past retirement, just trying to make ends meet.

id probley get my grandpa's truck and his 2 trailers which he keeps in perfect mechanical order just not clean lol.

i want to work for who he works for cause he makes great money just he doesn't run super hard.

i love semi's and can work on them myself as i grew up around them also

Yeah you can do real good or bad. I have seen both, it can be a rough job. Personally i would not want to do it since i get sick of long drives. Did a cross country this spring and just not fun after a while.

Closet I've ever come to that was when I used to make concrete block for a living. At one time it was my job to keep the batch plant stocked up and order sand, stone, and cement. We had our own tri-axle dump that would get some of the stuff and hired other companies to deliver the difference of what our driver couldn't get. Once he had to drive a flatbed because we were behind on block deliveries and I had to empty a load of sand into a hopper below ground and run it up the conveyor to the batch plant. One thing I can tell you is those things are a royal pain in the ass to back up with broken mirrors.. I wasn't even close to the hole where I had to dump it in. :hehe:

I've driven truck for the last 16 years, theres alot more to it than just driving. What kind of driving would be?

Peterbilt of Knoxville is a dealership about 7 miles from here. A friend's sister is the parts dept. mgr. so I've gotten to climb into some unbelievably beautiful rigs. Staying within that price range, I'd rather have one of those than a Maserati.

Run do not walk to the next exit! If you don't want a life or family, then it's the life for you. Been out here since 1974 and it's going totally down the toilet.
