ANy of you running the new DSM radio systen yet

Hey guys
Any of you ruinning the new digital spectrum modulation yet, looks like it will take over the radio frequency system for RC, basically locks on to an available freq and locks to it, theres no way anyone else can use your freq while your control is on, and if it finds someone else on it it changes to the next availble one, imagine 20 car mains and the thought of not having a radio pound

yes, they are in use heavily here in the states mike. most races still impound your radio though because they use that as a way to control unauthorized practice sessions between rounds too. the first batch of spektrums seemed to have some glitches, but horizon has stepped up and are updating the firmware in those affected units for free, and anything shipping now has the correction already made. so far they have been quite a success.

nope, i just club race, so i can't justify the expense of a new radio thats compatable and then the unit on top of that. i know a few guys who are using them with nothing but praise for them.

i use the ko pro mars R II radio, which is sposed to be compatible with it, once they turn up in the country think ill get one, think as long as you have a moduled control they will work, what are u running ????

it should work fine, you can order from www.horizonhobby.com and just have it shipped to you, why not be the first in the country? i use a futaba 3PM now, ill eventually upgrade to a 3PK, but probibly not for a season or 2. for now this radio does 90% of what the 3PK does.

I run the spektrum with a 3pk MB. I havn't had any problems whatsoever with mine

I've been running the spectrum in my m8 since they came out. Even my first batch stuff has worked flawlessly since I've gotten it. All your battery and power switch connections must be good, and along with keeping a good charge in your rx pack at all times. If something isn't right in both of these instances, you'll get some funky problems with the fail safe kicking in. Other then that, it's been great.

wow brave man...I'm still not cool w/ how unstable they are...I know it's like a milion to one shot that it will happen if your careful...but I saw a X18 go into comet mode cause of those things and that was enough to scare the hell out of me getting them.....sucks cause I had just bought a charger just to do LiPos....oh well I still have a bad ass charger...

Plaid, I've been running them for about 2 seasons now and have not had any isues, I've had nimh blow on me in the on roader though, there not as unstable as people would lead you to believe, and they last 3x longer than any nimh will ever last

I too soon will be giving li po's a try in my stuff. The radio first, and then the buggy and truck later.

The spectrum should work fine with them as long as you limit the voltage down to around 6v or so.

novak has a voltage regulator out to limit voltage systems just for using lipo's or li-ons. i think i would prefer Li-ons myself as they are more difficult to damage, and thier shape conforms to radio box use more easily. ill try some out later, for now my nimh packs are working fine.

Yeah corrado thats what I'm using, Li-ons are heaps more stable than lipos, have heard about the regulators but have enjoyed the extra boogy my servos have had with the 7 volts

I have something to say on this.
They do have a fail safe setting, but will not go into fail safe if the battery goes low in the car.
It will however, if you lose radio signal.
I now use a throttle return spring.
