Well, I mangled another header on my revo... this one didn't crack right at the base like the last two, it just kinked and got smashed out by where it connects to the pipe. I tried unkinking it, but it cracked, so I cut it off to where I have about 3/4" of a nub comming right off the engine.

I'm using a carb filter boot that I had laying around and I had to make something for the exhaust to rest on because I couldn't get it at the right angle to use the stock pipe hanger... I also wacked the bottom of the pipe on the seam so it would lay flat.

Just curious if anyone knows how much heat a typical silicone carb neck boot can handle...

I won't find out until next weekend to see if it will work for any length of time. By then, I might just order a HPI RS4 Header just to try. I've read where a few guys have used this header with good results. Personally, I think bolting a header onto the engine solid is a bad idea anyway. I'd rather have the spring type to allow for movement.

Anyone know the part number for the header gasket that comes with the RS4 header? I'd like to buy a few extras when I order it, but all I can come up with are 21 sized gaskets.

Thats one hell of a rig job! I can't imagine it lasting very long but its a creative attempt. Is that a sock on your air filter?

Yeah... I used the sock for winter time snow buildup. It was easier to take the sock off every once and a while and shake the snow off than it is to replace a filter in the field with numb fingers.

With the header thing, I was trying to mimmick what someone else had done.

They used to have one for the 2.5 I thought, but I don't see it at their site anymore...

good try there olds, but i think its gonna melt really quick. i tried fixing a tmaxx coupler with some automotive hose and it melted really quick like not even one tank.

Olds if you get another traxx header cut it about 1/4-3/8 of an inch. It should hold up better and give you a bit of low end.

OMG its a FrankenRevo!! I can't tell where the hell the stand ends and the Revo starts and the bench and tools just kinds melt into the framework. Geesh

nice sock!

Yeah man I think that coupler is gonna melt right quick. It also looks like it going to get banged around ALOT by the arms and suspensions linkage. I dont know man. Good try tho...

Automotive hose doesn't hold up like silicone. I've tried that on other stuff too. I did try installing a different pipe last weekend just for kicks using the same type of carb neck boot, and it held up for a tank without problems. But I was using it on the header before it got smashed, so there was more of it.

Tried that... Thanks though.

I have a steel brace that the pipe is ziptied too, so the pipe won't be moving. There's about 1/4 inch of clearance betweend the tube and any suspension parts when the suspension is fully compressed.

I really need to clean up my table...

I just read that you can use the header from the OS tm. Use the os gasket and the header, knstead of being tied direct it uses a spring. YOu only need to grind a flat spot so it clears the cooling head.

Umm... yeah, it's $40! Header

Thanks though. If it ever comes to that. I think I'll try the HPI one first. It's only $12. Or, I'll buck up and buy the trinity pipe...

I'd still like to know what everyone else is using. Is everyone just replacing stock headers with stock or are they replacing the entire setup with something else? And does the something else not crush or break as easy?
