i have a NTC3 with an hpi s25 engine and had a MIP two shoe which burned up so i swtched to a three shoe with dynamite long life aluminum shoes and haven't ran it yet but wondering if anyone had any insight on high power lite weight apps?

i have been experimenting with clutch shoes. i have totaly been wasting my time. iam running a jato3.3 of the stock type, 2 shoe clutches the mip shoes did real good, and the stock , traxxas 2 shoes did good as well, both are black in color. the mip has two holes to pivot on. i have only used the hole at the end of the shoe. i tryed alu shoes totaly messed up the bell it put alu on the bell that i couldnt get off. tomorrow the stock type shoes are going back on.

Clean up the inside of your clutch bell with some fine sandpaper. Then clean it with da or throttle body cleaner. Clean it with something that won't leave residue or oil behind. Then you should be good to go. Make sure your bearings are in good shape while your at it.

what i had on my jato was team associated white shoes 3 ea kind of short. i think they are made of teflon, i added some weight but they still slipped way to much i think they are suppose to have a spring on them. they had a very small contact patch. iam going to put it back stock. i know that works.

The design you are talking about is a "Ofna 3 Clutch shoe design".... They work really well when you use aluminum clutch shoes and the bell housing is extremely clean. anything that has "Teflon" it in will slip. Teflon is a anti-friction additive, the "commercial version" of P.T.F.E...... I have no clue why anyone would want to use that for clutch shoes....

well i was thinking it would make less mess. the black stock shoes leave some black dust. but its realy not bad. what i did was add weight to the teflon shoes, but i couldnt add enough. they sliped to much. the last time i went out bashing my jato 3.3 had the stock shoes, the stall speed was a little higher than i like, but not to bad. it sliped a couple of times, but i still like the stock ones best.

I just picked up a set from Nova RC, out of Cali. they are “Race Adjustable Aluminum Clutch Shoes”... tell you what man... i have a .28 in my MGT and these shoes absolutely "grip it and rip it"... well worth the $19.99 w/ shipping. and with the placeable set screws you can have them really hook up.... or finish drilling them out for super light weight applications.

i tryed aul shoes once. they left a lot aul on the clutch bell. i dont want to do that again. to me aul just doesn't seam like the right kind of matl to make shoes out of.
