RC Driving Style
Hey I been running with some of my boys who got 3spd trannies on Savages and Gigas. They haven't had problems with them but they say there is no good 3spd for my maxx. So what is the real deal here?

There is only one that I know of for the maxx and it's made by Rad RC (or something like that). It's geared so tall that you either have to install buggy rims/tires or use a BB conversion. The gears are made of plastic and you have to remove your slipper to use it.

those plastic 3speed transy gears can be changed to metal.....if you know someone like a friend or person who has a milling machine......if there is a college nearby you can take the gears there to the machine shop class & have one of the students mill metal ones for almoast free......sometimes they will do it just for an easy grade.....i used to take things to the college here to get milled till i got a metal lathe of my own....

So without the slipper I would end up having to invest in heavy duty drivetrain hop ups?

No. Due to the extra jarring on the driveline, the plastic spurs and the difficulty to tune, I wouldn't bother.

You would do better just to gear a little taller if you want more speed.

got it. What would be best for top speed? I was running a 66spur and like a 22 cb for playing in the dirt. what about for street?
