My antenna wire got ripped off doing a few wheelie/flips How can I fox this? If I solder a new wire onto it will the range be comprmised?? Do I need to get a new reciever?

If I remember correctly from my electronics schooling.......... way back when....... it will affect it if you solder it, but I can't remember how badly the results will be. I say try it, it's already broken and if it doesn't work well enough to keep, you haven't wasted too much time and almost no money to try it.

I agree with Mr.Clean. If it is broken....and can't be used can you really mess it up worse? If you get a good solder join then the resistance should be small enough that it should not matter.

what reciever are your running? the reception shouldnt be compromised but you also dont want it too long because then your stuck with tons of access wire that you need to place some where.

what i did to avoid that happenind was i drilled a hole in the back window of my jeep body and i ran my antenna out that way so its not sticking straight up. havent had a problem since.

Curently it is just the stock reciever that came with it, I have the 4.6 X I eventually want to get a different set up, I was thiking a Futuba 2.4 ghz system. I would assume the stock reciever will not work with the Futuba radio?? So I may upgrade the whole thing, but money is a little tight right now. So I think I will try and repair it for now

Eventually I want to get a FUtuba 2.4 ghz, and I would assume that at that time I would need to get a new reciever at the same time. To use the Futaba radio, it also needs a new reciever...is that correct??

unfortunatly the receiver wont be compatible with a futaba system. you will have to upgrade the whole radio system.

you will be fine if you repair your antenna and make it like 16 inches or so in total length.

Do you have a fail safe on the truck? A solder fix(the experts say) will usually effect the range of operation. I did it to my truck and never noticed a difference where I run it, but then again it worked when the wire was only 3in. long too.

No I don't have a fail safe on it. When this happened, I didn't even know it was broke off. There is only about 2-3 inches left, and it didn't seem to have any effect on the range...it worked just fine, then after I ran out of fuel is when I noticed it.
